  1. My case fans are louder which is mostly due to the fact they are moving get a good quality power bar with a filter and surge protection which should help with some line noise in winter the fans run slower as the ambient air is cooler. its summer right now so the ambient temperature pushes the cooling system a tad
  2. I have one of those cases and I agree the latch does sometimes not work as well as it could. Try it a few times and it should latch into place. You fan arrangement is good. Adding one above the CPU would be favorable for more heat extraction. If you are not using internal hard disks you can remove the disk cage but suggest using and get a hard disk or two which can be used for backups, media libraries etc. I have a larger chassis with a 2TB SSD
  3. Kabum seems to be a large vendor of computer components in Brazil. It appears that they were overwhelmed by the number of failed CX series power supplies. I read the forum posts which have grown in number quite rapidly. It seems that their has been a focus on a certain lot number which has an unusually high failure rate. Makes me speculate that manufacturing was cutting corners leading to problems.
  4. I have had power supplies last for many years. I have had the odd one die but nothing lasts forever. I have noticed Corsair PSU choices are limited right now but I hope more stock will surface so that those who want to do a build can get what they need.
  5. I assume the motherboard power cables are all hooked up including the EPS12V close to the CPU.
  6. This is rather eye opening as I have not had any major problems with anyones power supply outside the AX680 which was counterfeit. I grabbed a TX850V2 which solved the lack of power problem. I ran GTX 260 SLI with it until I bought the GTX 660 Ti.
  7. maybe switching to the RM650x would be a safer choice and its more efficient too
  8. I am in Canada so outside of summer its usually cold. I had a faulty AX860i which crapped out after about 3 years in service and Corsair sent me a replacement and that PSU has not been a problem. My old TX850V2 served for over 9 years fine with no problems. I suggest installing lots of fans to have good airflow to protect hardware. Front intake and rear/top exhaust.
  9. dunno why corsair did not use a mesh in front by design
  10. Seems to be a lot of models of Corsair PSU in short supply.
  11. That RAM should work on the R5 3600 with the latest BIOS installed
  12. no PSU is absolutely quiet. if there is noise in the motherboard audio, USB alternatives are very low cost
  13. I use 14 gauge power cables which can handle loads safely. Power bars sold here are required to be 14 gauge but some 2-pin extension cords may be lighter gauge.
  14. Try Corsair Link and see if it recognizes your PSU properly
  15. Seems that a filter on the primary bridge regulator is not filtering out the noise fully. After the bridge the sine wave is now doubled on the positive side. Then it is fed to a capacitor. So a capacitor on the main input is damaged most likely.
  16. Looking at all the hardware, I have an HX1000i and I could connect 48 fans to it via molex cables as they do not use a lot of power. Most use a AIO water cooler for the CPU. I use the biggest AMD CPU cooler with RGB which is connected to my MB. Corsair has lots of water cooling hardware, up to full custom. Something is not right with the cabling so I suggest checking the cables carefully to be sure the voltages are all in spec. A standard multimeter can check. A cheap PSU tester can also be used
  17. My R9 Fury is a real 300W card but it needs a pair of 8-pin connectors which needs a bigger PSU than the old HX650 can muster
  18. if cash is burning a hole in your pocket, the AX1600i is the king PSU
  19. it's a hold over for polarized connectors, switches are agnostic but front panel LED need to be one way only
  20. My HX1000i has a zero fan feature because it is 80 plus platinum so at idle the fan is off so zilch for noise same for my video cards, fans come on when there is a load
  21. I have the HX1000i which does its job well. Either version is respectable.
  22. PSU testers are available widely I suggest anyone reading this thread consider buying one
  23. I have a 15A breaker in 120V and my HX1000i never trips it. I often power down to modify the hardware.
  24. The last wired PSU I used was the TX850V2 which never let me down. I have since moved to modular cables which are easier to manage. My current PSU is overkill but it does the job I need.
