  1. You assume the PSU fan is handled by a CPU. The logic even in the most elite power supplies is very basic. The POST is to be sure all the devices are active and ready for service. POST is an acronym for power on self test.
  2. With modern power supply design there is a lot less problem with the grid than there used to be. The filters on the input keep internal energy from being reflected back in an out of phase manor which cause wild voltage swings. This is why there are chokes and capacitors which are used to filter out the internal switching noise. All you need to do is use the ATX power button to power down or even better is to use the modern standby feature which offers rapid resume.
  3. There has been slim pickings for that model for quite a while. I had one on my NewEgg wishlist for about 3-4 years. It has been out of stock for that long. Third party sellers have also run out as well
  4. I am still using an antique Cooler Master chassis. Quality never goes out of style but designers need to eat too. I am not into the cream puff setup, this is mainly because I swap out motherboards fairly regularly.
  5. I have not seen adjustable OCP on any PSU. They are designed for the model in question and they are unchangeable. Corsair Link can set fan speeds and change the PSU from multi rail to single rail. That is all you will be able to do. The PSU is not some glamor device, it has to run the entire machine, which is why I have a HX1000i to be safe. The AXi and HXi and now the new AXi are all very efficient. Now if only Corsair could provide some better 650W models, 80 plus platinum instead of the lower quality RM650x which is only 80 plus gold The HXi series are great and I am pleased they are still available. The new AXi line are nice but slightly more expensive.
  6. Corsair has not EOLed cables there is simply a supply problem due the slowdown thank to some necrovore than spread all their germs all over hell's half acre Corsair has individual cables but some vanity cables are in short supply
  7. If you can scrape it up the HX750i will make you happy with 80 plus platinum efficiency
  8. Mylar is widely used with many electrical product given the patent has expired. Mylar is a fairly good insulator and it is widely used in a range of applications.
  9. I noticed that oversight as well. More 12V is what hardware all want these days.
  10. I would also love to have true 8-pin PCIe cables. I tend to use power pig video cards with dual 8-pin connectors on them. I would also like true 8-pin EPS12V cables as well. The 4-pin APX12V is not needed most of the time but such a cable would be nice to have.
  11. Cheaper to get these direct from Corsair, prices are very reasonable
  12. Vegan

    Rm650i

unless you are using liquid nitrogen and overclocking it that bad you can leave that disconnected as it will not be a problem
  13. I was lucky to get 4 sticks of 8GB DDR4-3200 for X570 which makes the machine run well. reviewing my wishlist larger capacity memory are still brutally expensive. My old black chassis looks much nicer since install the RGB fan for my CPU, now at least the AMD logo glows Now to find a video card that has a logo that glows
  14. Ryzen processors will not work on the Z390. get an X570 motherboard for Ryzen
  15. I have some SATA power splitter cables for 5 devices and I run 2 of them off of one peripheral cable and it has not been a problem. I use these as I have SATA cards galore to support vast numbers of hard disks
  16. I am lucky to have my HX1000i which can handle any video card I care to install
  17. Type 3 cables are fine for 99% of needs. The type 4 have capacitors in a bid to reduce line noise but that is excessive. I use type-3 across the board. I have an HX1000i right now and I am looking to get more power supplies.
  18. My AX860i was faulty so Corsair sent me an HX1000i which is still widely available. The HXi series are 80 plus platinum and the are less costly which is popular. The HXi series have also been around a while but the are designed different and I do not see may issues with them.
  19. that cable is just for that purpose
  20. The Link program sets the fan at boot etc. I use a curve related to temperature
  21. The RM650x has some elbow room for which will allow it to be more efficient and durable I have a HX1000i which is overkill but I wanted platinum efficiency
  22. Most of the X399 boards I looked at needed a pair of 8-pin EPS12V cables
  23. low cost PSU testers are readily available in eBay, I have one on hand when a PSU is suspected of problems
  24. i have very few single cables, guess i should grab some more for power pig video cards
  25. I have a box full of cables and I noticed with my HX1000i I have PCI Express power cables with a pair of connectors on them. My question is, are the enough for 300W and more class video cards?
