Hey there, from my understanding, there is no true limit to the length of time for the gifs that you can apply. Just keep in mind that iCUE may use additional resources depending on the length of the gif.
If you haven't tried this yet, do a clean install of iCUE, and a repair and see if that helps. Also, if you ever went into the properties for the iCUE executable, and set it to run as administrator, uncheck that setting and see if that helps.

Hey there, if you ever located the iCUE executable and edited the Properties -> Compatibility -> Settings and then enabled the check box to run the program as an administrator, try unchecking that, reboot and see if iCUE runs on start-up.
Hey there, when a system is put to sleep the OS and all apps that are running are suspended to memory. If iCUE is having issues resuming the service after the system wakes from sleep may be being caused by running other third party RGB or Hardware Monitoring software being installed or running on the system.

I went ahead and inspected my LGA 1700 kit for you, and you should be fine to use either end to screw into the back plate. Like you observed, the kit I have is the same on both ends.
