ChrisPBacon1
Great thread, thanks for putting this together! I want to do the exact same set up as your diagram shows, want some input on how to orient all the fans however. I was going to have the three on the front as intake, 3 on the side as intake, 3 on radiator at the top as exhaust, one on the back as exhaust. This would be a total of 6 fans intaking air, 4 exhausting. I've heard a lot of different opinions about whether the AIO should be exhaust or intake, and whether positive/neutral/negative pressure is best. Will my suggested set up be ok? Thanks again. EDIT: In your proposed wiring diagram above, can I plug the Commander Core into the USB slot on the Commander Pro, then plug the Commander pro into the MOBO? Or do the Commander Core and Pro both have to be plugged into the MOBO separately? Edited March 1, 2021 by ChrisPBacon1

Your fan config should be fine.. positive pressure is a good thing when all intakes are filtered. less dust and fluff.. as for the USB question.. should work.. but there are some later AMD platforms that can be a bit iffy with it. the users that have not been able to get away with it have used the NZXT internal USB hub as a work around.. seems to work well. Packadapod
Thank you so much for the diagram!! However, instead of using the RGB Fan LED Hub (pictured in diagram), Could I use the included Lightning Node Core? I would assume so, but the included LNC, that came in the case, has a USB output while the diagram shows the other RGB controller has an LED/RGB output... Can I just plug the LNC into the USB slot on the CoPro to achieve the same thing? Thanks!!
LeDoyen
for RGB it would be the same yes. that would leave you two RGB headers on the CoPro for strips or custom loop corsair waterblocks (or more fans with RGB hubs) Edited March 12, 2021 by LeDoyen
Packadapod
Thanks so much!! I'm going to try it out when I get home. Quick question: will the fan that is plugged into commander pro and lightning core work as a "7th" fan? Meaning when the rgb moves from fan 1 to 6, will it then move to the 7th fan? Or will it be synced with an existing fan?

You can how ever do it by making your own effects and getting the timings right for each fan. very much doable. but does take time making in iCUE. which is a little beyond what i do in this section of the forum so a shout for help in the iCUE or Profile making sections of the forum would be a good idea. Packadapod
Hello again, So I set up my commander pro and still cant seem to control my 7th fan... I have the commander core with 6 fans/rgb connected as well as the H150i elite. I just added the commander pro, and have it set up with 1 fan plugged into the CoPro, and the RGB connected to the included Lightning Core Node that came with the case. I have the USB from the LCNode plugged into one of the USB ports on the CoPro, and the USB from that, plugged into my mobo, along with the USB from the CoCo... Should I plug the CoCo into the CoPro, and just have 1 USB going to the mobo? I see the CoPro has 2 slots for LEDs... Could I just plug the RGB for the fan connected to the CoPro, into one of those slots, to avoid using the LCNode? Thank you! P.S. I see the CoPro and LCNode in the iQue software, but it only shows the 6 fans connected to the CoCo.
whinjinpom
Hi Zotty et al. The commander Core looks to be a PWM+RGB controller. Any idea if corsair are gonna sell it as a separate? My "Corsair Crazy" in the 5000D would have benefited from it i think to have more "performance" control than provided by the case PWM repeater. xylonez
Hi Zotty, I am planning to buy the h150i Elite Capellix, along with the Corsair 5000D Airflow. This is on top of another 7 QL120 RGB Fans. Since I don't have a Commander Pro yet, I'm thinking of using a lighting node core and the PWM repeater that comes with the case, and then connecting the repeater to the commander core. And if my math is correct, this would consume 2 usb headers in the mobo. What do you think about this setup? Another one of my concern is that since the capellix comes with 3ML120 fans, essentially in one of the RGB hub (either the Commander Core / Lighting Node Core), it will consist of 3 ML120 fan + 1 QL120 fan. Will this be an issue? If not, which would be better, putting the QL120 in the 1st slot, and the ML120 in the 2nd-4th slot or vice versa? Thanks! L0wpull
Hi there @Zotty, thanks for this thread, I just pulled the trigger on a black airflow I'll be swapping some stuff around once they make the parts sections usable, put some white accents on there.. Meantime I'm trying to spec my rads etc before the case arrives, could you please tell us the total clearance above the motherboard up to the bracket? Need to know how thick a rad/fan I can fit without overhang :) Also, could you tell us how wide the small gap is between the PSU shroud and the glass panel? (not very wide..) To know if I can pop a 5/7" display there rather than butcher the shroud itself :) I did create a new thread asking the question, then spotted this sticky and it seems more appropriate to ask and have the answer here for anyone else interested :) Couldn't find the info in any specs, and also can't find the case manual for 5000D anywhere online, if it even exists there by the way... Something to send up the chain ;) I'm getting the essentials in ASAP but then going to full loop with a side distro, I'll happily post some pics when that gets going, should look great in this case! Thanks again :praise::praise: J Edited April 3, 2021 by L0wpull

Cant see why it wouldnt work. obviously all the fans on the repeater would/should appear as a single fan (on the pwm channel you hook it up to on the Commander core). not tried a repeater on the Commander Core Yet my self so cant confirm. but will be doing so. Another one of my concern is that since the capellix comes with 3ML120 fans, essentially in one of the RGB hub (either the Commander Core / Lighting Node Core), it will consist of 3 ML120 fan + 1 QL120 fan. My self i always tend to connect the fans in the order they are in the case with fan one being at the front. the only time you will see any issues when mixing RGB fans is with some sequential RGB effects not playing correctly such as Pong.. certainly wont damage anything ( excluding Original Corsair RP RGB Fans which are a no go for mixing) Edited April 5, 2021 by Zotty

unseen_uk
Just joined the forum to ask a question now I've picked up one of these. Went for the 5000D airflow model as I'm building this as a render/graphics workstation for my daughter. Although seeing as Bank of Dad is paying I want to have a little fun with as much RGB as possible :D (I have already threatened a pink theme which didn't go down well :) ) So far I've got the case and the H150i Capellix and looking at additional fans. First thought was 3 front, 3 side both intake then push/pull on the rad and one exhaust on the rear but if I'm working this out right (first time with icue or any major RGB setup!) I can add 3 extra to the rad and that would be covered with that commander core, then the front/side would be using one of the commander cores which comes with those but the exhaust would have to go on it's own commander core? Or am I missing a more simple way to do it?
