Zotty
Hi buddy... you only get a Commander Core with the Elite cooler... you get a Lighting Node Core with the Case and also a PWM Repeater... this should be everything you need.. Commander Core Controls up to 6 fans RGB and RPM Lighting Node Core controls the RGB of up to 6 more fans. and the PWM Repeater will turn one of the Commander Cores PWM headers in 6 cloned PWM headers. Does the D comes with a lighting node core? Not had a chance to unbox it yet (enjoying the nice weather before it disappears!). I guess I'd need another commander core if I wanted the exhaust to be RGB? Out of interest what fans would you recommend as the extra fans? I have been looking at the ml120 Pro to match the Elite but I'm also toying with either LL or QL.

QLs.. is Silence your thing? ML's. not that i find QL's super loud but i dont need to run them at high speeds... so many factors to account for buddy
unseen_uk
TBH The RGB is more a bit of Dad revenge, it's a 5900x so just trying to keep it cool when it's being used to render projects (Game design course) so more about cooling with RGB being a second element. So you'd rate the MLs over the QLs then?

ahfoo
Hi, I am new to corsair case. I got this 5000X and need to know the following advise from you. 1. What is the default fans model I need to select for the lightning core. The reason I am asking because when I select the fans type to SP series, it will not work. could it be my rear fans using ML PRO RED connected to commander pro together with case fans connected to it? 2. What your best recommendation fans suitable for this case. I am living in Asia and the weather here is hot and humid all years. Thank you. Zotty
when selecting the fan type.. (assuming you are using icue 4) select 8-LED Fan Series at the bottom of the list, thats how i see it on the commander pro and lighting node pro, not got the 5000x Lighting Node core on hand to test here but can do when i get home later Edited April 21, 2021 by Zotty

Dingo89
This thing was great to build in! Love the cable cover on back to neaten it all up. Just wish the magnet was a tiny bit stronger. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Cheers for the guide Zotty! Edited April 23, 2021 by Dingo89
ahfoo
Hey bud.. yes you do have the 8-LED Fan Series option on the 5000x Lighting Node Core. Hi Zotty, thank you for enlighten me. Appreciate.
ahfoo
By the way I can confirm that if you have chosen the SP Series fan with the lighting node core that came with 5000X will not work. The only solution to follow Zotty advice to use 8 LED option in iCUE version
WheelerLFC
Can I set custom fan curves through icue when powering the fans through the case power hub or would i still have to go through my commander pro as im using a y splitter currently on header 1 of my commander pro for my top, middle front fans and they wont spin up past 950 rpm
Zotty
Hi bud. assuming you mean the supplied PWM hub. if that is Plugged into your Commander Pro.. yes you would be able to control all the fans on the PWM hub as one single fan in iCUE
WheelerLFC
Sorry yes that's what I ment, I have 10 fans in the case (3 of them are sata powered through my H150i) so if I connect PWM hub I can i power the fans through that I'll be able to do custom curves on the fans connected through that as well? Also can I use any header on the commander Pro or does it have to be a specific header? Thanks for your help.
Zotty
yeah you can use the Commander Pro buddy.. example.. if you plug the PWM hub into Fan header 1 on the commander pro, all the fans on the PWM hub will appear in icue under the Commander Pros cooling tab as fan #1. WheelerLFC
Great thanks for your help iv inadvertently fixed my problem without changing any of the headers around. When trying to get the fans to spin up past 950RPM the other day I set the fan profile to 'Extreme' but nothing happened so I shutdown and went away. Iv started my computer up today and the front top and middle fans started spinning up to max RPM so I set the profile for them 2 fans (they are on a Y splitter on header no.1 on my commander pro) to the custom profile I wanted restarted the computer and both fans are running the profile iv set. Saved myself 20 mins there.

ahfoo
Hi, Need some advice on the 3.5 inch hard drive position placement. I move the hard disk cage away from the 5000X original position due to power supply length issue. But by doing so, my hard drive getting hot. My question is there any others option beside putting in the hard drive cage or the motherboard tray into other position to have more air flow. Thank you.
