  1. Usually bending cables does not do any damage but your PSU is a real dinosaur and you may want to consider jumping to a RM850 (2019) which is far more modern in design. It's also cheaper too.
  2. Fact is there are several sensors in a PC for voltage. The motherboard typically has a part from Novotron while Corsair seems to be using a similar piece of hardware. Reading the sensors all day long with dozens of programs will not affect anything. Not unless the developer is taking hostile steps.
  3. One of the more expensive power bars usually sold to TV crowd have better filtering and other protection which can help with backwards power factor if the power gets out of phase such as when electric motors start it can be bad for a wide area while it starts up
  4. I agree, the really old AX gold power supplies use a different pin-out compared to HX, HXi, RM, RMx, RMi, AX titanium and AXi platinum which all used type-3/4
  5. This reminds me of a Athlon box I built and needed an Adapter for the CPU power. The video card I was using did not need PCIe power. 196.75 wrecked that rig so I got a TX850V2 and a Carbide 300R chassis and built a new rig
  6. I found that long ago using filter capacitors removed the noise from the AC side efficiently with linear designs as well as with operational amp designs surprised that these are not that common anymore, capacitors are not expensive this is related to power factor which is an advanced topic in electrical engineering
  7. I have followed the forum down there and local vendors were overwhelmed by the number of bad power supplies suggesting the whole lot was screwed up somehow
  8. I have several antique power supplies. Recently I pulled one out of mothballs to power up a motherboard so I could update the BIOS, PSU is really old and still works
  9. I agree that more 5V is needed, so one idea I had was the old regulator trick for add-in cards is the LM7805 which is inexpensive can work with a power transistor to provide extra current https://www.hardcoregames.ga/1972/10/17/lm78xx-regulators/
  10. there are lots of different models. one I use splits one 9-pin into 2 of them, usb extension cables are useful as well I have fan extension cables, sata power extensions and splitter and lots of different lengths of SATA cable etc
  11. The last "new" PSU was the RM (2019) refresh that has better lower power efficiency especially with 5V standby etc
  12. I suggest checking cabling to be sure the hardware connections are snug. Vibration from fans can sometimes cause loose cables to disconnect.
  13. I have 5 fans in my box and nowhere to install more, seems to be working to keep the machine cool as a cucumber
  14. I use Arctic MX-4 which seems to last longer than the service life of hardware
  15. The AMD Wraith Prism is a larger fan and I wonder if the ring on it would work with a piece of metal designed for your cooler to mount. The Wraith Prism uses a latch to add pressure. It also is slightly hard to attach and remove, and again the pliers are handy to unhook the peg. Once its loose it's usually not hard to yank. All I know is that the metal clips because they are not firm seem to not want stay put, i had to spend an inordinate amount of time installing it properly. At least now I have it operating, see how long it lasts before my CPU overheating warning comes on that the cooler has dried up.
  16. I could probably write wash me on the graphics card. Small wonder it stopped working. Dust and grime can foul fans fast leading to overheating and worse. My rig is so clean you could eat off of it, I constantly clean the rig. Why is the video card not in slot 1 closest the CPU?
  17. does look like a fan croaked, it happens occasionally been a while in my shop
  18. I found the thing flipped over on me several times, eventually some needle nose pliers got it attached so I could them tighten the screws to ensure a good pressure on the cooler I still think the removing of the bracket and using the 4 post approach might be less of a headache.
  19. I see the same problem, with USB 2.0 headers not sure what the problem is as USB is designed for using hubs galore by design. I have the MSI power tool installed which supports more charging power. So I do not think that is the cause of the problem. More likely the application or the USB drivers in windows need some tweaking again.
  20. The Corsair Commander unit has 4 temperature sensors in the box that can be dangled here and there in a rig. It also has a bunch of fan controllers too if needed. I use one and it has been handy for leveraging vast numbers of RGB hardware.
  21. check to see if the fan cable is secure to the motherboard header sometimes they come loose if not attached snugly
  22. I got it installed after battling these flippy screws, but I strongly recommend using the 4 post solution that most coolers use which are slightly easier to install. The brute strength to force the clip into place is easily 4x harder than a conventional AM4 cooler such as the Wraith Prism. CW-9060032-WW is the model I am using, I am aware that there are a lot of variants out there.
  23. It seems that somebody did not look close at AMD brackets. Now way the piece of metal will screw on to AM2, AM3 or AM4. So there needs to be a new bracket that maybe can leverage the AMD back plate and install the H115i and secure it that way. Some AMD fans are installed that way. As it stands I am not able to use the H115i
  24. The new RM750 (2019) is not such a bad unit. I have the RM650 and I have found it to be excellent for the reasonable price.
