danielvh
Quick question: if I'm plugging the XD5 PWM cable into my motherboard (Asus Maximus XI Gene), rather than a Commander Pro, which fan header should I use? Choices are: AIO_PUMP, which is full speed, 1A Max Current, 12W Max PowerW_PUMP+, which is full speed, 3A Max Current, 36W Max Power
knacker40
would use the W_PUMP+ header as has greater power draw giving a bit more room
c-attack
No power draw on the MB. That will come from the SATA connection. You do want some type of control from that header, unless you you like the pump at 4800 rpm. As far as I know both AIO and Wpump can be unlocked from the advanced bios -> monitoring section to function like a normal CHA fan header.
Corsair Employee Corsair GregX Posted December 9, 2019 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 9, 2019 Max power rating of the header is not a concern with the XD5 pump/res since it’s powered by a dedicated cable directly from PSU. It's molex type power connector. To control the pump the fan header should support PWM. Both the AIO_Pump and W_PUMP+ are OK and can be set to desired PWM value in bios or belonging software provided by motherboard make.
