rm5
Hi, so I'm in love with the look of the regular Strafe, with the red-only backlight. Of course the RGB could be a lot better with all of the colour options and a wrist rest (which the regular strafe doesn't have). I'm just wondering if the red on the RGB looks washed out or faint at all with the white background of the RGB? For example I found the following image where some areas almost seem unlit. Can anyone who owns the RGB comment on if that's how it looks in person? http://www.legitreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Corsair-STRAFE-RGB-35.jpg

krazykid
The white backplate will make it brighter, not dimmer. that's definitely a picture not at full brightness.
rm5
Thanks for your replies. I wonder what full brightness looks like? I've tried to compare random google images but it's hard to know what it will actually look like when it's in front of you. Anyway here's 2 more of the RGB: http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2015/10/corsair-strafe-rgb-mx-silent-review/strafe-rgb-10-1280x1024.jpg http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2015/10/corsair-strafe-rgb-mx-silent-review/strafe-rgb-11-1280x1024.jpg Compared to the red with it's red backplate: http://cdn2.expertreviews.co.uk/sites/expertreviews/files/styles/article_main_wide_image/public/2015/08/corsair_strafe_1.jpg?itok=LO_S1Oim http://www.technobuffalo.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/corsair-strafe-keyboard-02-sm.jpg They're both gorgeous mind you... Corsair Employee Corsair Henry Posted November 16, 2015 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 16, 2015 OP's first picture is definitely not on max brightness. The red is very vibrant. If my camera on my phone wasn't broken, I would take a picture for you.
rm5
Thanks for replying Henry! I guess I'm going to try to make a (slightly) educated conclusion that they are both as bright, probably both look extremely similar in a darker room and that in a brightly lit room/daylight/less than max brightness the difference between the white and red backplates will stand out. I'm probably going to buy the red-only one (I also prefer how it looks when unlit too) but damn they are both pretty fantastic looking keyboards. I wasn't even going to buy a mechanical keyboard at all but I find the design so damn appealing! So you guys have done a great job. Cheers. strafe24
I took a few shots for you. rm5
Ahh that is fantastic, thank you so much! It looks like molten lava is about to come pouring out haha. When it's daylight or a well-lit room does the white backplate stand out a lot have you noticed? (When on full red I mean)

When I'm in a well lit room and have the brightness on max with red leds I cant really see the white background as it looks red, however some of the border keys you can see the white background on the outer edges because there isn't as much light surrounding it. But the main key rows are just all red as if the background was red. Is that what you meant?
rm5
Yep that is exactly what I wanted to know, thank you again! I guess it probably sounded like a dumb question but before I saw the Strafe (red) I was just going to buy a cheap keyboard, however I was really taken with the red aesthetics! The font and the look and the quality... Then I discovered there is the RGB model too which also looks amazing, but I've had a really difficult time trying to find out *exactly* how the red in the RGB comes across. So thanks again for providing me with the answer!

(When on full red I mean) The back plate for the Strafe NON RGB is red, unlike the Strafe RGB has a white background.
