  1. The mat is stretchy. I am not sure what other ways the tube is attached to it, but I think without the nylon threads it might come off. I don't know much about this stuff, but of course if you are convinced it is held in place without the threads and don't mind potentially breaking it and the warranty, why not cut them off?
  2. Alright thanks, makes sense, I just wish they mentioned that ANYWHERE.
  3. So I heard that button on the hub is supposed to cycle through lighting modes, but how does it work? Is it only for the case you don't use iCUE? Because my button does nothing.
  4. The current solutions are BS. The way CPUs and especially GPUs blow hot air INTO the computer and mess with airflow should be the first thing to fix if you want to improve cooling. Nothing will work perfectly, nothing will be compatible with everything, but that's just the case for everything in life. I see the glass as half full and I think Corsair could get a step up on the competition if they made it part of their cases, AIOs or other cooling solutions, especially since they already got a strong footing in the premium space, so even though there probably isn't much to patent, other companies won't have as easy a time to copy that idea as if they did if Corsair was just a mediocre or low budget company.
  5. Alright so I received mine today and I see what you mean. The RGB tube is attached to the mat with nylon threads, with quite neat stitching I must add. The thing is, I don't move my arm much, I prefer to only move my wrist and the mouse within my palm, that's why the M65 Ultra suits me so well. If you move your whole arm, and a lot and fast, I can see how it will get painful, at least without sleeves, and possibly also damage the stitching over time. I am not sure Corsair even has any mice that are meant for twitch shooters, but even their premium shooter options are now 90g+. How it is going to work out for me over the coming days and weeks, I don't know yet, but I might consider doing what I suggest to you: Find something transparent you can use to cover the part of the stitching you move your arm across, just be wary of stuff with glue that might leave ugly smudges, or something non-transparent to protect both your arm and the stitching, since with your arm on top of that area you wouldn't see the RGB anyway.
  6. And I don't mean just for the pre-built systems, but for cases, like including stuff like shrouds/tunnels/chimneys, it would make a huge difference if done right. (Ignore the title, the whole video is actually about effective cooling.)
  7. Fluid dynamics is a complicated science for a reason. You would need to find a way to make the air visible, like with smoke, but I don't actually recommend doing that. Generally, with 6 intakes and 4 exhausts there is probably enough air coming in to overtake the first 1 or 2 top exhausts, but you will really need to test it, like by getting different parts of the system to moderate temps, then turning off/up individual fans/fan sections/combinations and checking temperature changes.
  8. So I am still sitting on a crappy EVGA 1060 6gb SC, which means it has a SINGLE fan! It was fine back when I bought it, and since then upgrading still doesn't seem worth it, considering I don't play the latest games. However, the fan isn't holding up well anymore and started buzzing. I could lube it, but I would rather upgrade it a little, maybe with a Corsair AIO that has ML fans. My question now, what would I need for the most simple solution? I believe it's the older version, so this one: https://www.amazon.com/Evga-Gaming-Graphics-Card-03G-P4-6162-KR/dp/B01L31DAQK/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2OUYCF0U87BEB&keywords=evga+1060+6gb&qid=1639939464&sprefix=evga+1060%2Caps%2C253&sr=8-2
  9. Damnit Corsair, that's not one of the items you should get from the fruit lady at the street corner in China. Well, I might believe you about the Commander's quality, but I still don't trust motherboards. At least if something goes wrong with the Commander, it's not part of the motherboard and at last I get proper fan control. Asrock A-tuning is just bad...
  10. I was expecting something like that. Well the ML fan is going to be my main focus anyway so no biggie.
  11. I'm a fan of dedicated hardware. It's not the worst of motherboards, it's the Asrock z370 pro4, but I am generally suspicious of motherboard quality, there are so many components they often cheap out on, have bad drivers for and whatnot....
  12. Noctua? Oh dear.... Since you bring up "stable minimum speed", I think I finally discovered what the clicking sounds are. At lower RPM they seem to randomly wobble and slightly nick the frame, and here I was getting paranoid over power issues... Out of like 5 beQuiet fans I got 3 that have some kind of noise problems, whether wobble causes them to scratch on something or the bearings stop running smoothly. And this is why I am so fascinated by the ML fans. Sure they are louder by default at certain RPMs, but what's the point of having theoretically slightly quieter fans when they end up making noise like that anyway? Guess I will swap them all out for ML fans sooner rather than later.
  13. Is there any reason not to run the CPU fan via Commander Core XT? I got an Alpenfohn but I might even move over to an (also not the best) A500 just for the frictionless fans.
  14. I used to use a splitter before I did the Commander. I am always suspicious what sub-optimal power does to electronics, maybe it messed with them, but now they are all on individual Commander ports. I noticed strange behavior of one of the 120mm and the 140mm fan before when I used to control them via Asrock's supplied fan control. When below a certain RPM % they would make weird double-clicking sounds which I couldn't explain, but I thought to myself the fan power supply on the board might be poor quality and maybe running into too much resistance, which is one reason I decided to get the Commander. I also got rather dirty power, I think, which is why I use a special power hub to deal with power spikes, but my computer has been running exceptionally stable for years so I can't imagine that being the cause.
  15. So I just installed this hub and I have 2 fans behaving weirdly. I got 2 beQuiet Silent Wings 2 120mm, 1 beQuiet 140mm and 1 ML120 installed, all of them PWM. The 2 120mm Silent Wings 2 don't seem to work right. One of them, when set to zero RPM mode, keeps spiking to 4 RPM every few seconds in a steady interval, the other refuses to go below 355 RPM even when I manually flatten its curve to 0.
  16. It's this time of the year, guys. Don't forget to get your Christmas lights up, just type "Christmas" in the search: https://www.corsair.com/ww/en/icue-library
  17. I just don't want any mechanical parts rubbing together, it's so backwards to me and makes me paranoid, and for the same reason I could never use a HDD again either.
  18. There was an iCUE update yesterday that disabled monitoring for me too until I ran it. Took an awkward amount of time for some reason.
  19. Qi not working for you? I really liked Logitech's charging mousepad that would charge the mouse no matter where on it, but I never tried Qi.
  20. Come on, you can't be serious. "...allowing you to have custom macros / keybinds and not interrupt your keyboard usage..." How does it not interrupt my keyboard usage when I have to move my keyboard hand over to the Nexus to press binds/macros I could just as easily keep on an easily accessible key?? Unless you want me to take my hand off my mouse to do that. I get that it has integration for a few apps that are used for gaming/by gamers, such as temp monitoring, discord info etc... but unless you use those few, you are left with nothing but a bunch of expensive, hard-to-reach extra buttons. What it needs is proper game integration, not simple macros that are rarely useful and much more accessible on regular keys, but rather something you CAN'T do with a simple button press.
  21. Hum I see, thanks. But with no friction one of the selling points of those ML fans should be longevity.
  22. I know they are not the best fans out there, IMO that's because of the blade design. However, I really hate moving parts and the mag lev at least removes the worst side of moving parts, which is friction. But do any of the PSUs come with one?
