  1. I would like to take the opportunity to ask who actually uses this button as intended. Because I have to say it is actually a nice button if used what it was designed to do. The problem is, from my experience and in the games I play, the RMB/aim button already does pretty much the same job. On top of that I have a very special grip that worked better on the older M65 shell where I would use my thumb and pinky so close to the bottom edge of the mouse that when I slightly pinched my fingers I would slightly lift the mouse off the pad, completely eliminating any friction and dramatically increasing my ability for the tiniest adjustments while still being about to flick roughly 180 degrees with only wrist movement. I was massively successful with this grip technique back in the days of Ghost Recon Online, but I can imagine it is not a common approach and thus mice don't get designed for it, but hey, maybe Corsair might get some useful ideas. Either way, I tested the sniper button and while I very much appreciate Corsair's engineering here, I wonder if anyone actually uses it considering games often already come with one and in those that don't, people just use the sens/grip they got used to with all the other mice that don't have a sniper button.
  2. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Corsair headsets or something else add this feature, because it requires measurements in an audio connection.
  3. If the flickering is caused by your PC, it sounds like a power or USB issue. Keep in mind increasing the polling rate of peripherals isn't supported in all games and will bump up your CPU usage.
  4. I am so happy that, unlike certain other brands, you include the NVIDIA GPU hotspot in your temps! This should help me keep my card cool and healthy for longer! Oh and also Merry Christmas everyone!

  6. Ok well seems to be a PX1 issue then. Surprised they didn't add hotspot temps. What confuses me is that I have 3 individually addressable fans. RPM sensor and RPM control work for each individually in PX1, so how come it doesn't in other apps?
  7. I found the issue, according to HWiNFO it's the hotspot. It also doesn't detect the 3rd fan but Precision X1 does and all 3 fans work fine with the exception that the first 2 fans spin up much more slowly. Is that a software compatibility issue? I will also have to ask EVGA.
  8. So first of all, it only detects 2 out of the 3 fans of my GPU. Second, it shows a "temp #1" which correlates with the temp values of the GPU die in Precision X1, and then there's a "temp #2" which shows temperatures that correlate with nothing in Precision X1.

  10. Check out some videos on YouTube about this topic. People disagree on the whole airflow vs static pressure topic, but what I took away from all the opinions I have heard and tests I have seen, the less constricted the path between the air in front of the fan and the cooling targets behind the fan is, the more easily you can get away with a more quiet airflow fan design. However, don't forget this includes things like air vents and especially dust filters and other meshes, they all add resistance and the more resistance there is, the better you might be off with a static pressure fan. So TL;DR check some test videos on your computer case and your fans of choice.

  12. Yeah well, not having a simple way to turn off all RGB is so backwards. I used to have all sorts of brands, Razer let me just have them turn off automatically on idle, genius. Wooting made me have to press and hold a key combination to change KB brightness, terrible! What I use is a dedicated profile that turns off lights everywhere, and while that is fine with only like 3 or 4 different profiles, for people with many more profiles they will need to find a way to directly address them, not just cycle through with the profile button. Anyway, why zoom on the control wheel? Is holding CTRL and using mouse wheel not as good?
  13. Well, they do say they require a constant 12v connection to run properly, but I don't know how much is needed to properly suspend the rotor part. I doubt it has sleeve bearing, it would constitute as false advertisement, people opening it up would lead to lawsuits and corsair being an American company, familiar with American copyright law will be smarter than that, I am sure. Another reason why I doubt it has a sleeve bearing is that, although I'm not an engineer, I know magnets add weight and I know the more weight you add to a rotor, the better of a balancing job you need to do in construction to make them work without dramatic wobble that would lead to noise, heat and even the whole thing flying off. Now given that Corsair produce in parts of Asia where quality assurance already is a nightmare to begin with, I highly doubt they would make it even easier for the factories to break their stuff. Bottom line, taking a sleeve bearing fan and adding magnets for stabilization, which would also add a lot of weight and in turn make stabilization harder again, seems like an unlikely choice. Rather, I think the "sleeve" parts are simply dust caps as you can see here: When you scroll down here: https://linustechtips.com/topic/783941-corsair-ml-series-disassembly/ you will see a general maglev fan construction. I don't know how much of it is different in Corsair's fans, but this one on the illustration has dust caps that could make contact. I do also seem to remember reading something like "almost no friction" on one of Corsair's ML product pages but I can't find it anymore, but I can imagine Corsair simply can't entirely exclude the possibility of a little friction due to tolerances in certain parts of the bearing.
  14. Interesting, I never had that ticking noise, but the thing is even if something sounds like a "grinding" noise, it doesn't have to be actual grinding. Everything with electronics inside can make noises because of the current that passes through them and the electromagnetic field that follows them around. According to the graphs on the LTT forums the ML fan design seems to use a cap to seal against dirt, so I guess there could be friction happening?

  16. I finally found an actual use for this wheel other than the rarely used and stupidly keyboard-limited RGB brightness adjustment. Browser tab scrolling! It may sound stupid, but I often have so many tabs open with several of the same topic bunched up together that spotting which one I'm on and clicking others without accidentally clicking the mute or the X on them (using Brave browser) becomes more of a hassle the smaller they get. In Chromium-based browsers, ctrl+tab and ctrl+shift+tab are used to scroll back and forth between tabs, meanwhile you can use your thumb to hit F for going in and out of fullscreen in videos and spacebar for stop/play, and at the same time still control your mouse. Give it a try! So now I'm curious what uses other people found, please share!
  17. Have you been in hibernation for the past 3 years? I decided instead that I tortured this card with 1440p long enough and upgraded. Too bad there are no Corsair aftermarket cards with ML fans yet.
  18. This video is interesting. I know magnetic bearings are in theory quieter than other bearings, but in practice I think they reach higher RPMs and with the spool sounds can get noisy too. What I didn't expect is how close the noise level and type is compared to other bearings when it comes to the ML fans. It still has points of friction, doesn't it?   20. So I just ditched my SW2 and SW3 that started to make noise for 4 140mm and 1 120mm ML fans, and while I expected sounds of some sort, I am surprised of what kind of sound it is. At low RPMs, that is around the 400-600 mark, I hear a slight rattle from my closed up beQuiet Silent Base case. It appears to be electronic rattle and when I get really close I can also hear something like a very feint coil whine. After googling the issue I have seen a few threads and heard a few explanations, but they don't seem to apply to my situation. For example I run the fans off the Commander XT and never ran them off the board.
  21. It says "26,000 DPI" under DPI info, but there is no further detail on whether that is max DPI or native DPI. Can you confirm the 26k are actual native DPI?
  22. Would it be possible to remove this thing if I accept voiding the warranty? Or is it required for anything other than the tilt gestures? Because it can't think of anything to use the tilt for and can't even use it with the lowest LoD, which is something really important to me, the lower the LoD the better. I would really like to lower the weight!
  23. Oh yeah about the mouse wire issue... Over the years I have experienced fraying on everything, whether it was even the softest stitching or no stitching at all, which is why pretty early on I developed the habit to leave the kinks in mouse wires and set the wire up in a way that it has several arks that keep it off the pad directly at the mouse and also off the mouse pad edge. That way it is its own little bungee with admittedly a tiny bit of drag depending on where it first touches down, but actual flex and no tug/length limit like with a bungee.
