  1. There was a firmware update for my Commander Core XT the other day and today I started getting BSODs in games. One after several hours of playing Star Citizen, then each time I would load in instantly and in New World always after roughly a minute of playing. In Vermintide 2 I spent 10 minutes with no BSOD. I unplugged the unit and since then no more BSOD. The error was always WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR and the BSOD was always stuck on 0%.
  2. Well in this case I disagree. But what is the purpose of letting your Windows auto-lock on idle if it's a home computer? For traveling, professional and internet cafe machines it probably makes sense, but home machines? I don't use it and I have not heard of other people using it, so is this decision based on statistical research data? I mean, I don't even let my computer go to sleep. Maybe an unnecessary remnant of the times when writing to SSDs was seen as way more of a hazard than what it turned out to be, but from my experience some software/hardware likes to glitch out after waking up, so I only set my monitor to turn off on idle and my speakers do it anyway.
  3. Yes that's the solution I proposed with varying methods. The problem is, what we really want is all the iCUE-controlled RGB lights to turn off after x amount of idle time, because people walk away from their computers for so many different reasons, sometimes even going to bed, and not everyone wants the lights to keep shining during that time. Pressing a single button is manageable, pressing several ones is a hassle. The simple reason is that with how integrated computers have become into daily life, you never know in advance when and for how long you are going to walk away.
  4. Wait what? iCUE itself lowers FPS too?? Why would it do that?! Also getting lower FPS with video ambient lighting mode. What I am curious about is whether that's also the case with other products like this, though I am guessing those receiving information from the monitor instead of the GPU might not have an FPS impact, but possibly a cause higher delays on the monitor?
  5. No this can't be normal. My HS80 didn't have this sound for the first few days, now it does. Corsair is like..... if Ferrari were building their cars in China. Nice designs, nice performance, nice materials but the breaks might randomly stop working or the wheels might fall off.
  6. I feel that's the problem though. Who wants to click around in software just to shut the lights? And scenes can't even be activated directly/cycled through outside of iCUE.
  7. The mute/unmute button/info for the HS80 on the NEXUS has its info reversed. The the mute button says "unmute" and the unmute button says "mute". So either someone accidentally flipped them, or they meant "muted" and "unmuted". Or maybe someone flipped the icons/text, because while it is unmuted it actually shows the button/text to unmute, so basically the icon corresponds with the current status, but the text does not.
  8. Basically it was designed poorly. Whoever copied the lighting link profiles over to the NEXUS accidentally included 2 of the little info LEDs left of the Corsair icon, so now they keep flashing based on the lighting mode. Makes the whole lighting mode kind of useless to be honest, because you would have to train yourself to ignore those otherwise kind of important info lights. What's really bad is, users can't change it.
  9. Yes I don't want AIO unless maybe for my GPU, but there is too much risk and cost involved in that and there's still the issue of the annoying clicking pump sounds.
  10. Couldn't agree more. Everyone was basically doing their own thing in designing their hardware with some, but not enough concern for everything else in the case.
  11. Thing is they would need to acquire the expertise for it somehow, like by buying up a company with experience with quality motherboards.
  12. I don't know, the way they handled their fire hazard issue I wouldn't be buying any Gigabyte stuff anymore, at least for a few years. If I company has a serious hazard problem with one of their products, I want them to admit it, fix it and service the customers, not go "don't worry, it's fiiiiiinnneee!". Will have to see how Asus handle their "baptism by fire" though.
  13. Wow they actually do come with ML fans! https://www.techpowerup.com/280394/corsair-refreshes-rmx-series-psus-with-magnetic-levitation-fans-upgraded-warranty I never even looked because I didn't expect fan bearing info on the website. https://www.corsair.com/ww/en/Categories/Products/Power-Supply-Units/RMx-Series/p/CP-9020198-EU#tab-tech-specs
  14. Now I am not a programmer so I don't have a solution for a true "dark on idle" mode, but I have come across some tricks. Here is what you need and what you can do with it: No profile switch: Make a copy of your main or power saving profile, disable/blacken all RGBs in it, select profile from the iCUE tray icon. Profile switch on your mouse or keyboard: Make a copy of your main or power saving profile, disable/blacken all RGBs in it, select profile from KB/M. No profile switch: Make a copy of your main or power saving profile, disable/blacken all RGBs in it, select profile from the iCUE tray icon. Profile switch on your mouse or keyboard: Make a copy of your main or power saving profile, disable/blacken all RGBs in it, select profile from KB/M. Profile switch AND iCUE NEXUS: Make a copy of your main or power saving profile, disable/blacken all RGBs in it, save it in a separate profile folder, set up a NEXUS button to switch between that profile and another profile, press NEXUS button to activate. I personally use the NEXUS on a K100 so I really like how I can switch to profiles within certain folders with it and then cycle through the profiles within that folder with the dedicated profile button on the keyboard. It might sound gimmicky at the start but once you got it set up for your personal needs it is definitely convenient and intuitive.
  15. Nice setup. In an air cooled setup this fan would steal cold air from the GPU fan though. I would love to go with a Corsair case so the 4000/5000D Airflow are both in the running, even the old beaut 780T in white, but I am not planning to OC my CPU or GPU, I think the clicking sounds of the pumps would bother me (ML fans saying hello ) so I was thinking Fractal Torrent. I wouldn't even get sleepless nights over the fan hub since I use a Corsair Commander anyway.
  16. M65 Ultra Wired, and I am stuck with stuff that doesn't do anything on its own like "use" on it because I keep accidentally pressing it. On the older design which was Vengeance/Pro I didn't have that problem, the button was more out of the way for my grip. So what's the difference between DPI shift and DPI lock? I thought it would always set it to a fixed DPI value, did it lower DPI by a certain value before?
  17. https://www.asus.com/us/site/rog-build/rog-corsair.html How do people feel about this? I got curious about Asus' RGB integration into iCUE and became curious about how far the cooperation goes. I personally really like the idea of Corsair partnering up with a leading computer company that makes complementary products, because when you become a fan of a brand, you like more than just their quality. It's also about their design language, kind of like with Apple and much like with car brands. And just like with being a fan of BMW, Jaguar, or Ferrari, you wouldn't want the different interior and exterior parts of your car to be designed differently. I guess eclecticism is the polar opposite of bran identity that way. I used to mix and match companies based on whatever fit my requirements best, often I built the setups myself too, but I think if you can have both top performance for your specific budget as well as an enveloping brand design language, it can add another layer of satisfaction. The ease of use is another aspect, though with only RGB integration, although nice to have everything synced in case you go for that much RGB, you still end up needing to install all the different software, which is Armory Crate for your Asus motherboard, GPU Tweak for your Asus GPU and possibly even the drivers for Asus peripherals, all that on top of iCUE. So obviously, even if we narrow it down to the lowest amount of brands possible, ending up with 2 still barely cuts down on background programs to install. Unfortunately I don't think this will ever change in a cooperation. It sounds like a nightmare in terms of responsibility, compatibility and QA to me to rely on another multi-product company to make the drivers/software for your multi-product company. I guess we would need to see a merger before something like that happens. I do have some questions though, why not EVGA? They seemed like the perfect fit to me as a customer.
  18. But it's Corsair's database, I thought those were made by Corsair employees. https://www.corsair.com/ww/en/icue-library
  19. Am I the only one who is just annoying by the kind of crapshow computer cases are in terms of cooling? PSUs that block intakes, GPUs that blow hot air back into the case and against all the other fans and top fans that compete against CPU fans. It's an absolute mess of trapped hot air. I got a beQuiet Silent Base and am looking to upgrade, but I see no great options, only slightly less bad options. I was happy to realize there's a fan mount and exhaust opening on a side panel that would make sense for an open air GPU such as mine, just to find out there is no room for a fan once you install a card that could actually benefit from it. I got a few ideas for improvements but they always require either hardware manufacturers to go from "cool my stuff, F everything else" to "integrate my cooling into an airflow loop", or at least heavy case modding, where I am looking hopefully towards Corsair. They got good cases no doubt, but more innovative companies are pulling ahead already.
  20. Alright I guess I just got unlucky. I downloaded a bunch more and it turns out a few of those do work with the MM700. Wondering why just some of them though.
  21. So I was wondering why none of the lighting profiles from the official page apply any lighting to my MM700 until I realized it's the mats on the previews is a different one. Does that mean the MM700 is not compatible with these profiles??
  22. Never mind, I pressed the reset button in options and it wouldn't work, but now it did. fixed it.
  23. It seems to turn off most fans even under load, but some continue to run even during idle, which actually turn off when I switch them to a custom profile which either has 0 RPM or 0% RPM. So what exactly does the Zero RPM preset do??
  24. So when I first plugged it in and iCUE detected it, it added a typing RGB effect on top of all my peripherals. Even removing all RGB effects it would still do it, so in an attempt to get rid of the bug (which was gone once I rebooted the computer) I removed all preset screens from the NEXUS. How do I get them back?
  25. I just realized iCUE supports some Philips HUE products? Are there any lighting products I could control via my iCUE NEXUS? Preferably room illumination products, not necessarily ambient lighting products.
