tineras
Long story short... 1. I wanted a blue switch K70 LUX RGB, but they aren't available. 2. I thought I finally found one on Amazon UK not realizing they layout was different and was sad. :[pouts: 3. I ordered a readily-available brown switch version from Amazon US. 4. I took all the blue switches out of the UK version and put them in the US version. 5. Now I have a K70 LUX RGB with blue switches. Image gallery: http://imgur.com/a/cjWGp Here is a more detailed version of why I was in this situation: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=164046 It took between 4-5 hours in total (including keeping an eye on my two small kids). Everything worked fine afterward and I didn't run into any major issues along the way. It was just tedious. I'm still not crazy about how the blue switches feel when compared to other blues I've used (like in my Ducky Shine 3), but I have been told that they break in over a week or so. We'll see. Here is a very short video of the desoldering: [ame= ] [/ame] If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them. I'll get this one out of the way: Q: Are you insane? tineras
You know you could've just took that UK version and switch around the key caps, and change the language to US English, right? XD That was my first thought, but I quickly discovered that some of the keys are physically a different size and/or shape (the underlying hardware is also different). So no dice! :[pouts: Enter, Left Shift, etc. make things all screwy. I tried typing on it a bit and it was driving me nuts; especially that short left shift key. You can actually see the difference if you look at these two pics side by side.
