Complx
Hey everyone, I want to say hello since this is my first post on this forum! This is also my first custom case built from scratch, so I thought I would share. Im always looking for feedback to help improve my designs. Sadly I have already completed the project and therefore don't have any way of making a proper build log style updates. But I made sure to take plenty of pictures of the build which can be found here: http://imgur.com/a/tnKTh The premise behind this project was the need for a large amount of storage of various pieces of digital media. (3+TB or more) I have been wanting to build my own home media server for sometime and finally found an excuse to build one. I wanted to be able to stream media to my various mobile devices and run an FTP server, plus since im a gamer, I wanted to be able to host game servers for my buddies and I to play on as well. My biggest problem was space. My desk was cluttered enough as it was and I didn't have anywhere to put it, even the small ITX cases were too big. That's when I started browsing online for inspiration and thats when it hit me to put it on the wall. These first few pictures of the completed build I used a piece of smoked acrylic as the base for are the hardware, however, I didn't like it as much as I thought, so I replaced it with a custom cut piece of anodized aluminum. http://i.imgur.com/Kt3nWuy.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oZN5YXE.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JWvMRp6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/D4Idj7Q.jpg http://i.imgur.com/f1wXyvO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/8DLBUQR.png http://i.imgur.com/m7VcANI.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3pUwjBf.jpg http://i.imgur.com/SXe7w20.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yvwGnlq.png http://i.imgur.com/rBG9DzD.png http://i.imgur.com/LPFS8lH.jpg Aluminum Plate http://i.imgur.com/Re6H9ML.jpg http://i.imgur.com/R5wxx5q.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vXrODFH.jpg http://i.imgur.com/crj1MrL.jpg After Anodizing: http://i.imgur.com/g9IIFnV.jpg http://i.imgur.com/rrsyIwc.jpg http://i.imgur.com/dU5fKZY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ctr40Cq.jpg Etching: http://i.imgur.com/xKV4VyQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/rAb6TMZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pDVfa6b.jpg Final Design with Aluminum Plate in Place: http://i.imgur.com/jzlMOCk.jpg Hope you enjoyed viewing this project with took many months to complete, if you have any questions, feel free to ask! chimeratx
Not really build related, but how do you control the server? I mean what OS are you running and how do you get inside the server and control stuff inside it in case you need it? (Problems, power outtage, etc)

(Problems, power outtage, etc) I have Windows 7 64-Bit installed on it, I usually remote into it on my main computer to control it. If there are some REALLY technical issues, like reinstalling the OS, it is easily pulled off the wall and I can attach a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to it.
