persentio
Thanks SO MUCH faulkton!!! Really invaluable pictures! I have a request though; could you possibly measure the dimensions of the bottom PSU filter? I'm planning on ordering a custom DEMCiflex filter for it. faulkton
Thanks SO MUCH faulkton!!! Really invaluable pictures! I have a request though; could you possibly measure the dimensions of the bottom PSU filter? I'm planning on ordering a custom DEMCiflex filter for it. The entire slide out assembly is 7 14/16" x 4 6/16" Hello, thanks for all this pics an videos. The case is so cool, I'll get one soon. Would you anwser a few more questions about the case : It looks like there are 2 USB 3.0 on front panel of your photos, however it's said there is only one on the official spec page. Can you confirm they are 2 ? Also it looks like the USB 3.0 connectors are not mother board connectors but type A male ? Does it mean that you have to pull the cable outside the case to plug them to the back panel of the mother board ? Is there any provided adaptor to connect them to the onboard connector of the mother board ? (I found some cheap adaptor that would do the job for usb 2.0, but not for usb 3.0 : http://images.icecat.biz/img/gallery/4717590_708.jpg ) What about USB 2.0 connectors ? Are they also A type ? Please excuse me if my english is wrong, but I'm not a native speaker. there are 2 front usb3 and they both plug into a back i/o port usb slots and not the motherboard. There are two usb 3 male cables for this. You might be able to cut them and hardwire them into motherboard pins. i bet there will eventually be some sort of adapter like you found for usb 2 made for usb 3, just give it some time. The front usb 2 ports hook by standard pins to the motherboard.

I perhaps could move things around to other ports, but I would prefer not to have to route cables externally, and would like to maximize the number of USB 3.0 ports that I have. I found a connector such as this: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10198/usb-07/NZXT_IU01_Internal_USB_Expansion_Power_Supplement_Board.html I think this might work as well, but still only USB 2.0: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=250&products_id=22080 But I have not been able to find something similar that is USB 3.0. I believe that would make the front ports usable, as I think everything is backwards compatible, but it would only be at USB 2.0 speeds. Does anyone know of a similar device that is USB 3.0 native? PeterMac
I have a question about front panel USB ports they are in vertical position, is it no problem with wide USB devices like wide fat pendrives insering them there ?

If its the same as the 7/800 then yes it is a problem , i had to get a usb extension cable and plug them in via that , can't believe they made the same mistake :sigh!: . Wired
I have a question about front panel USB ports they are in vertical position, is it no problem with wide USB devices like wide fat pendrives insering them there ? 33 seconds in you can see a good shot of the USB ports. All vertical. Looks like standard spacing, so fat USB drives would have an issue.
PeterMac
yup too bad :[pouts: like this one I m sure it not fit, I wanted to replace my Twelve Hundred to this case but with this issue I stick with old one, maybe they fix this panel in next revision I hope so http://benchmarkstest.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/q1mach_xtreme_technology_mx-fx_series_mxub3mfx-32g_flashdrive_2.jpg

I just got my 650 off the ups truck and wow I am very impressed, so much so that I'll just throw my old fat Sony usb stick in the trash and buy a new slim one. I registered to thank Faulkton for all the pictures and dimensions. It's guys like you that make the internet a valuable source of information. persentio
Hey bro faulkton, / Anyone else with a TY-140 fan, Sorry to request for your input again; are you able to mount a Thermalright TY-140 fan (The ones that come with the Silver Arrow & Archon) at the rear exhaust of the 650D? It doesn't seem like there's enough room but I'm hoping there actually is.. :o: Appreciate any help from you!

Forums have been an invaluable source of information for me throughout the years and when i lucked out and got one of these early i figured it was a good time to pay some of it back. I have built already or i'd let you know for sure, but i think they would mount there no problem. They have 120mm spacing and it looks like there is enough room on both sides of the fan grill. The fan might be wider than the mesh grill, but i think they would mount.

MiseryMachine
Not trolling, but why would you guys spend all this money on really nice gaming rigs and not use a sound card? Seems just silly to me. Onboard sound, in my experience, is nothing compared to a good quality sound card.
Squeetard
I have an X-FI that wasn't put in when I took that picture. And Klipsch surround speakers.
Fan O Water
Faulkton and Squeetard - Very nice! Very clean! My own rig is progressing slowly. I feel I am trying to cram 10 lbs of stuff in a 5 pound bag. Anyway... Faulkton looks like you are using a hard drive cooler - what is that? kittysox
I just put my 650D together with two mega flows, 140 nocta nf-p14 in the rear exhaust and I am impressed. The little touches make this case, like the rubber grommet fan mounting, push to release front filter, removable hdd racks and so on. I love how easy they made it to remove features you don't like, in particular I absolutely hate those front usb 3.0 ports that are simply and extension cable run to the back of the mainboard, and removing them was painless. How'd you manage to remove them so easily? Can you reconnect them whenever you want or are they permanently gone? I've tried tucking them away in my optical bay space, but they're pretty large even for that. I posted my build pics in another thread, might post them here, don't wanna spam! I just pulled the whole thing that houses the usb ports out and removed the three screws and the few like tabs that held it together and the usb3 extension cords will just pull right out and they can be replaced easily. faulkton
the hdd cooler is this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NV9DMC I removed the front and basically just used the mounting cage behind the stock bay covers. It also came with a blue LED fan i replaced with a noise blocker. There is a passage that lets cool air get pulled in from the bottom filtered intake used by the 200mm fan. This passage is also the way to get the covers off once they are snapped over the cage... i just slide my finger up there and release the tabs on the covers. It seems to work fairly well, there is only about a 2-3 degree difference in cpu temp running prime between having the bay covers on and off. Using it makes the sata power and data cables more difficult to hide ... as you can see :( Looks clean squee!! As far as a sound card i just dont see the point. This is going in the living room where i dont even have a 5.1 system. I move too much and gave up surround for a much more convenient soundbar system. Less than ideal but a lot easier to set up and take down.

Might be better for acoustic dampening than putting the racks in right by the front intake. What noise blocker did you use? What is in the bottom front right by the front intake fan under the little cover? I felt the screws underneath it and the hard drive cages go on top of it, but I couldn't figure out what exactly it is.
