pcdoc1958
Just purchased a 12 gig "matched" set (CMD12GX3M6A1600C8). After I booted I check and one of the DIMM's is reading different (CM3X2G1866C9D). Is there something wrong? Why do they not read the same. This is the second set or corsair "sets" that have come in this way. Please advise. Thanks.
Yellowbeard
We can replace it if you like. Are you having issues and will the module run at the rated speed/timings of 1600C8?
pcdoc1958
So far I am not having any issues but why is this happening and will it cause future timing issues. Are these just re-branded 1866 Dimms that are clocked down? Can we just replace one or do I have send in the whole set as this is the only ram I have. Else, can we do a security deposit and expedite a new set. Thanks for the quick reply.
Yellowbeard
How it is replaced is not up to us in Tech Support. You'll need to discuss it with Customer Service. http://www.corsair.com/contact/default.aspx And no, it is not a rebranded DIMM. It may simply be a module with the wrong SPD flashed. pcdoc1958
By the way, you guys should really look at that problem to avoid confusion, noticed several other postings in other forums and retail reviews for the same issue. You have great memory and do not need these kinds of comments.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 21, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 21, 2009 We will look into the problem, but most likely it was just a mistake in production.
pcdoc1958
Thanks guys, RMA'd the set to the store and got a new set. Works perfectly and they are all the same number so now I can relax and enjoy my ram. Great stuff and great service. Thanks again for the support. You now have a customer for the long haul.
