TheGood
Hello guys, I am thinking of overclocking my cpu, but I do need a better cpu cooler, because at the moment I am using the Cooler Master Hyper T4. My case is the Corsair Carbide 500r and my processor is the Intel Core i7 4770k. Now I am was looking in Corsair's H series CPU cooler and I was thinking of the H100i V2 and the H115i. I know that the H100i V2 will fit but what about the H115i? Here is a link to the H115i. http://www.corsair.com/en/hydro-series-h115i-280mm-extreme-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler Reading a bit on it, I understood that it was a 280mm radiator, so I used the chart on this page ( http://www.corsair.com/en-us/blog/2015/april/corsair-hydro-series-cpu-cooler-decoder-ring-and-case-compatibility-chart ) to see if my 500r was able to take a 280mm. Turns out I do not see it in the section for the 280mm so I concluded that I could not mount the H115i on my 500r, but then I saw this post on the forums ( http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=156128&page=2 ). The person who created the thread installed a H115i in his 500r. Is the H115i exceptionally the only 280mm radiator that can fit in my case? Anyways, I thank all of you for your time and wish you a great day.
red-ray
Looking at http://www.corsair.com/en-us/carbide-series-500r-mid-tower-case then the tech specs say it will take the H110 280mm cooler so I expect so. That said I feel the CoolIT H110i is a far better cooler than the Asetek H115i, see http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=796027
TheGood
I did read your post and I understand what makes it better, but what does the CoolIt and Asetek company have to do with the Corsair CPU Hydro Cooler? Do they mod certain of these products or did they participate in their conception?
red-ray
CoolIt + Asetek make/design the coolers and Corsair sell them as Corsair coolers.
TheGood
Ok that's clear to me now, thanks. What is not clear although is the fact that you say I could install the H110 and I saw that you could install H115i on the 500r, but when I use the chart, the 500r shouln't be able to take them. I would love to see a corsair employee guide me through this confusion. It might help a lot of people.
red-ray
You could always ask via https://corsair.secure.force.com/home/home.jsp I feel Corsair need to update http://www.corsair.com/en-us/carbide-series-500r-mid-tower-case (and all the other case tech specs) to include the current coolers. The H100iV2 is not listed there even though it will fit. I think is a 280mm H110 fits so will the 280mm H110i + H110iGT + H110iGTX + H115i. snapper69
I completely agree, looking at the spec of my 900D, the H110 is listed but not the H110i GT, which I know fits, because I have one.
