I was wondering what is the difference between these two Triple channel kits: CMT6GX3M3A2000C8 and CMG6GX3M3A2000C8

CMT6GX3M3A2000C8 specs: Dominator-GT 3X2GB DDR3-2000 CL8-9-8-24

CMG6GX3M3A2000C8 specs: Dominator-GT 3X2GB DDR3-2000 CL8-8-8-24

Is the timing the only difference? Is the CMT6GX3M3A2000C8 kit not being made any more as I can't find it on Corsairs site but I can find it to buy at online retailers.

The only reason im asking is there is about $190 price difference between the two. I would rather get the CMT6GX3M3A2000C8 kit to save $190 and have one timing loose. Thanks for any help.

The CMT part number has the connector for the Airflow Pro and the CMG is an older part number that does not support the Airflow Pro. The newer part number also has a looser trcd

That would be a question best asked of your retailer. Remember also that IC prices fluctuate very frequently which of course affects RAM pricing.

CMT6GX3M3A2000C8 = 6 GB (3x2GB) 2000 MHz CAS 8

CMT12GX3M3A2000C9 = 12 GB (3x4GB) 2000 MHz CAS 9

The latter will work, however as Ram Guy stated above, "we do not support or suggest mixing sets even if they are the same part number". Not to mention that 6 sticks at 2000 MHz is a lot of electrical load on a memory controller and most aren't capable of being overclocked to allow 3 sticks to run at 2000 MHz let alone 6 sticks. It's always recommended to purchase one kit that meets all of your needs. When you purchase a memory kit the memory has already been tested at the factory at the rated specs.
