Dragonx Posted October 3, 2010 Share Posted October 3, 2010 Quick question for everyone here. I purchased a P128 a while back with the old firmware that supports garbage collection. I know that the new firmware is out with TRIM support. My SSD has been doing ok and I leave it idle to do garbage collection. I haven't benchmarked it to see if it has degraded but as far as real world it still screams. Here is my question. I am planing on upgrading to a bigger SSD but will be keeping the P128 as secondary storage so I figured that this may be a good time to upgrade the firmware. My big question is this. Is it worth it to upgrade to the TRIM firmware or is it better to keep the old firmware with garbage collection. I have also noticed several post claiming an increase in speed. Is this true?
