mbk17
Hey guys, I just accidentally spilled water over my K60 :( Some keys work, some keys pressed just give me gibberish. So far I've removed every key and shook the keyboard trying to get any water out and from what I can see it looks pretty dry. As this has never happened to me I want to know if there is any options beside the worst (buying a new one). I seriously love this keyboard and I will take any suggestions that can possibly fix this. Thanks
stratosrally
If you only spilled water and nothing sticky, you should be fine. If you have access to compressed air from a can blast it all out some more, but even without that if you leave it in a well ventilated area for a while it should dry all the way out. leave the keys off during this process, and a limited time in the sun won't hurt either. I'd try propping it at an angle that makes the volume roller the highest point because that's the corner with the fewest keys and you'd want any remaining water to run away from it... Ok thanks for the swift response that's reassuring that I'm not screwed here. How long shall I leave it in this state?

mbk17
Update: Today old problems came back. Some of my keys are not working properly typing the same gibberish as before. I really hope this is not permanent damage to my keyboard. Any help is appreciated.

stratosrally
Sorry it didn't work for you... there was another user a while back that got lucky. For future reference, it usually does work - flip it over the instant it happens onto a towel, then remove the key caps, shake it upside down, blast it with air and leave it out exposed to sun for a while. Glad you're getting an RMA - like you I love my K60!

AtotehZ
My father works with hardware development and he taught me this. Water can be really bad on its own, especially the calcium within it, it will conduct electricity even after the water is gone. Rinsing in tap water if you have a bad spill(any liquid other than water) is fine, but you have to end with disassembly and rinsing circuit boards and switches with demineralized water. Sorry for the necro, but I found this today, others might as well.
