Watchkeeper000
I'm looking to purchase a Corsair One in the very near future but am now holding out for the new i8 processors. When will the build be available to ship with them included?
Corsair Employee Corsair Dustin Posted August 29, 2017 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 29, 2017 We don't comment on future products, but there also aren't i8 processors even rumored. So don't expect a Core i8-based Corsair One anytime soon on account of i8 not existing. ;)
Aetherios
Maybe he means i9 processors? Which won't fit on a mini-ITX mobo and would melt this thing into a puddle of aluminum.
Administrators Technobeard Posted August 29, 2017 Administrators Share Posted August 29, 2017 Or he means the 8th gen Intel CPUs (which are all mobile CPUs so far): http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/intel-8th-gen-core-specs-technology-explained-2952599 http://ark.intel.com/products/series/122593/8th-Generation-Intel-Core-i7-Processors
nathany
I would be very impressed if you could buy a Corsair One with an 8th generation processor before the end of the year. Intel hasn't announced 8th generation desktop chips yet -- though of course there are rumours -- and have been for years. Consider this, all of which is speculation based on rumours: * Intel may ship the i7-8700K in October, but you never know * There is a new Z370 chipset which means new motherboards! * ITX motherboards may not be the first thing MSI tackles (compare the Ryzen ATX vs. ITX mobo releases) * There is a custom BIOS on the Corsair One, correct? * Leave some time for Corsair to validate that all this works together * And some time before you can buy the updated model through your favourite retailer Is it worth waiting for an expected +200 Mhz greater boost clock? Are you planning to use it for tasks where 6-cores would be beneficial? Only you can answer those questions. You can forever wait for the next thing, whether Coffee Lake or Volta or whatever comes after that.
Corsair Employee Corsair Dustin Posted August 30, 2017 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 30, 2017 The 8th Gen Core processors in Corsair One aren't an "if," they're a "when." But that "when" is something I can't speak to.
CedMtl
Hello, As the 8th Gen Intel processors are currently coming to market are you able to give roughly an estimation when the Corsair One Pro may include them ? Like first half or second half 2018 ? Understanding that any info prior to any official announcement can change and company decisions can change at anytime so that's something not to take for granted. I'm figuring if I go with a custom build right now or with a Corsair One Pro. I did a LOT of digging on mini ITX build and as exciting it gets to build his own computer with all the possibilities, I have to say the One Pro looks absolutely awesome, and all the engineering you came up with is really really attractive. Great work guys
Corsair Employee Corsair Dustin Posted October 20, 2017 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 20, 2017 8th Gen Core i7 CPUs are in extremely limited supply, but we will be introducing them to Corsair One when we can. I wish I could give you more information than that.
iaro
Fingers cross that it happens this year. Really want a Corsair One Pro w/ Coffee.
Corsair Employee Corsair Dustin Posted October 23, 2017 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 23, 2017 I can tell you it won't be this year. It's typically less than ideal to launch new products after Thanksgiving. If I were in your place and speculating, I might expect it to coincide with a major tradeshow. ...if I were speculating. iaro
Dustin! Appreciate your reply. Not sure what a tradeshow is, but I'll Google it. Anyways, thanks for the insight. I'll now be able to take a decision. Not an easy one still. I'm really in love with the Corsair One... In terms of durability and future proof (Although that technically doesn't exist) how much life-spam would you give the Corsair One?
Corsair Employee Corsair Dustin Posted October 24, 2017 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 24, 2017 We warrant it for two years, but in terms of actual useful life-span, I can't speak to that.
