Cribs
I have a Corsair SSD (CMFSSD-128GBG2D) with the latest firmware installed (VBM19C1Q) and it was running wonderful when my sata controller was configured using the IDE option in my BIOS, however my computer does not have an e-SATA port built in so I installed one using one of my SATA ports. After this, everything ran fine, however I would need to reboot my computer in order for my external drive to show up (you cannot hot swap drives in IDE mode), so I decided to switch to AHCI mode and reinstall windows. Since I did that, my computer hangs all the time whenever I try to multitask. CPU utilization is not spiking at all. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem. I would prefer not to have to switch back to IDE mode.
Synbios
You don't have to re-install windows to change modes, just edit a registry value. If you're using MS AHCI 1.0 you can try Intel RST 10.x on the AHCI controller.
