jm77
All - Just got a new rig and am trying to get my initial CPU/Memory timings and multipliers to a good "optimal" starting point. I have a few questions (see below) if anyone wants to drop the clue stick on me. My Hardware: Intel DX58SO (BIOS SOX5810J.86A.5390.2010.0614.1053) Core i7 930 3x 2GB CM3X2G1333C9 (TR3X6G1333C9) ASUS PCE-N13 PCI-E 1x 802.11n PCI-E GPU (upgrading in a day) My current setup per CPU-Z - Northbridge Intel X58 rev. 13 Memory Type DDR3 Memory Size 6144 MBytes Channels Triple Memory Frequency 666.7 MHz (2:10) CAS# latency (CL) 9.0 RAS# to CAS# delay (tRCD) 9 RAS# Precharge (tRP) 9 Cycle Time (tRAS) 24 Row Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC) 59 Command Rate (CR) 2T Uncore Frequency 2666.8 MHz Three memory modules: Manufacturer (ID) Corsair (7F7F9E0000000000) Size 2048 MBytes Max bandwidth PC3-10700H (667 MHz) Part number CM3X2G1333C9 Manufacturing date Week 51/Year 09 Number of banks 8 Nominal Voltage 1.50 Volts JEDEC timings table CL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRC @ frequency JEDEC #4 9.0-9-9-24-34 @ 666 MHz CPU Settings (my current settings are the "Active" settings) - http://imgur.com/LUIo6.jpg For some reason, the DX58SO wants to set the Host Clock Frequency to 135 MHz. Is this generally safe? Memory Settings: http://imgur.com/bsB9P.jpg Speedstep Settings: http://i.imgur.com/gWQ17.jpg The Memory Settings image above shows my tRC as 27 - this should be 34, correct? All the other settings are as shown in the image, with the exception of tRFC, which is now 59 (the system is unstable at anything lower than this). I'm not trying to overclock at the moment - just trying to get my memory and CPU timings to their optimal values. From what I could tell, the DX58SO wanted to set the memory timing to 1066 and the Host Clock to 135 MHz. The white paper for the Corsair modules states, "SPD programmed at: JEDEC standard 9-9-9-24 values at 1333MHz". My questions: * Should Host Clock Frequency be set to 135 MHz? Is this safe? * Are my CL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRC and tRFC values and voltages optimal for my modules? * Are my CPU multiplier, Host Clock and CPU voltages optimal? * Is there a more complete list of the optimal Memory timing values (that includes the uncommon ones listed in the BIOS)? * Are there any other settings (Speedstep) I should consider changing? I'm using stock cooling and am not opposed to overclocking. What's the best way to go about this for my setup and what's a reasonable overclock to shoot for with my setup? Thanks very much for your help!
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 4, 2010 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 4, 2010 Yes, 135MHz should be fine. Everything looks correct. As for the other settings those are more reliant on the motherboard/cpu.
