Technoid
My new Corsair Void headset has a strange microphone issue: when I use the USB adapter to convert the "smartphone" 3.5mm plug to USB, the recorded audio is always clipped (shown in the image below: the waveform has a sharp cutoff at the top and bottom, which distorts the sound). This happens in Shadowplay and Audacity. Even if I set the mic input level very low, it still clips the audio. The recording is just quieter overall, with the exact same clipping, as if I had manually reduced the volume on the original clipped recording. However, when I connect this same headset to my computer's analog 3.5mm microphone jack (using a splitter to isolate the microphone), it records just fine: no clipping at all. Unfortunately, it only records to the left channel when I do this, and this is a known problem with Windows, so I'd like to be able to use my USB adapter, but without the mic audio clipping.
