razer_76
Hi i wanted to tighten the timings of the ram to cl7 at 1333mhz. do not want to run the ram at 1600 due to cpu limitation. i am able to run at 8-8-8-24 1333 at 1.65v. what is the maximum voltage that i can safely apply to reach cl7. also will the tighter timings affect gaming. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted February 3, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted February 3, 2012 You are welcome to try it and the max Voltage is 2.0 Volts, however I have not seen an AMD system need more then 1.7 Volts for memory, so I doubt the Voltage will make much difference above 1.7 Volts and be sure to test the system with http://www.memtest.org. razer_76
what about the performance gains, had tried 7-7-7-21 32 at 1.7v but system was unstable. will try with increasing voltage.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted February 3, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted February 3, 2012 You may have better luck increasing the memory controller Voltage, for AMD Bases systems the setting will normally be called CPU/NB Voltage and I would increase it to no more than +.2 Volts over default. But cas 7 is or will extremely rare to get out of a Cas 9 part. Cas 8 would be more stable and require less voltage and generate less heat. peanutz94
Thats just a typo :) pretty sure he meant cl8 as the asterik is above the 8 on the keyboard. Cas 8 would be more stable and require less voltage and generate less heat. Is what he meant.
