iracer
Running an alienware aurora with a i5 2300, just ordered a i7 2600k to throw in it next week. I want to ditch the 8gb of 1333 and run the 1600 mhz ram as that is the fastest the mb can run. The motherboard is alienware/dell 046MHW. I want to go with CORSAIR as I have heard great things about it, but I do not know what ones to buy. I see alot of people talking about dominator and vengenance alot. And there appears to be multiple skus of each one. I want to max the MB at 16mb. I do have some adjustability in the bios for memory. What are your suggestions for a kit. Ideally id like to keep it under $200, $100 -200 is my range.
iracer
also when i put in the i7 2600k, i plan on overclocking it past the 4.1 factory over clock. Others with my systemand junk ram are running it at 4.4 to 4.3 no problem.
peanutz94
I would check with Dell to see what is compatible. OEM systems especially Dell's can be really finiky with aftermarket RAM.
iracer
they told me up to 16gb ddr 3 1333, or 1600. One of the tech guys gave me his email, and told me to get corsair, and avoid the dell memory.
