rt182
Hi My computer just recently started playing up, freezing etc. Then one day didnt start at all. It says these Ram sticks should run @ 1066 but when i set that in the bios i dont even get a boot. I have my voltages at the stated on the ram. I have an asus motherboard and when i turn it on the freezes on DETDRAM on my little post screen. I looked this up and people say its a RAM problem. The computer start fine if i reset the bios and take the problem stick out. If i take that one out and place the "faulty" stick back in the compuer again wont boot. i cant run memtest because i cant boot with the "faulty" stick in my computer. Please advise. regards rt182. Wired
How many times have you RMA'd your memory? Looks like you've posted a couple of threads over the years with memory troubles. I'm wondering if something's shorting your memory out.
rt182
I think this is my fourth time? could it be my motherboard doing it? i have changed my mobo bout a year ago. and on my new one im pretty sure this is only my second pair.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 31, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 31, 2009 I noticed you are running two sets. If each set tested on its own? Also are you trying to run both sets with all four Dimm slots populated at Frequency 1066Mhz?
rt182
I did try to run all 4 sets @ 1066 but my computer was very unstable and would freeze a lot. Yes each set was tested on its own i didnt have any problems when I had the other set in so I have just been excluding them from the tests atm. Ive currently been using my desktop with the good set in and one ram stick in from the "faulty" set and its been stable for the past 3 days. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 1, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 1, 2009 You probably are putting to much load on your memory controller. Try putting the Frequency at 800Mhz bump the NB to 1.4v and keep the rest at the same settings.
rt182
Thanks I've placed then settings stated and I can boot the computer but everytime I let it load into windows about 30s in with the bar going across the screen I get a really fast bluescreen and the computer restarts this happens over and over like an endless loop untill I shut it down. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 2, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 2, 2009 Have you tried testing each stick on its own? if so and 3 sticks work just fine and one stick does not best to just RMA the bad set. What is your previous RMA # or case #?
rt182
i have now tested all 4 sticks seperatly, and yes its only one of the sticks have errors. My previous case number was 1020517. So its just one pair that needs to be replaced is that correct?
