leniows
hi. i have already 2gb of 8500c5d with 2.1voltages. i just bought more 2gb but it came in its 2.2v version. now the question... since i made the timmings setup manualy, can it cause any problems setting the voltage to 2.2? thanks ps: sorry my bad english
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 15, 2008 With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
leniows
hmm ok... i`ll try that... 1 - where do i have to set that frequency in bios? 2 - i`ll lost performance since my ram can run at 1066? thanks again
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 15, 2008 I am sorry but I have no way of knowing as you did not list the make and model of MB but I would check in the user manual and or Advanced Chipset section of the BIOS might be listed in Frequency and Voltage control depending on the BIOS kernel. leniows
thanks for the quick answer  my mobo is: Asus Striker Extreme for now i`m using windows xp 32bits, but i`ll change to 64 bits or windows vista server 64 bits... any advices for the right way to get my memos working on 1066? right voltages? ( because 2gb works with 2.1v and the other 2.2v) thanks again

leniows
just updated my specs. now can you tell me what config should I make to take the best performance for my system? and if I change to vista 64bits? should I do it? thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 16, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 16, 2008 I have already answered that question please go back a few posts, and you can get the tested settings for the modules from the link in my signature and with ASUS MB's all BIOS settings will be in section 4 of the user manual. DerekT
thanks for the quick answer  my mobo is: Asus Striker Extreme for now i`m using windows xp 32bits, but i`ll change to 64 bits or windows vista server 64 bits... any advices for the right way to get my memos working on 1066? right voltages? ( because 2gb works with 2.1v and the other 2.2v) thanks again It's never advised nor is it supported to mix and match modules of different fabs and voltages. Some modules ICs will NOT work with other modules ICs and you can always tell if they are different ICs. Simply look at the version numbers on the modules. The Integer needs to be the same ie. 1.xxx (1.1/1.2...) for the fab to be the same. If the integer is different ie. 1.xxx vs 2.xxx... then you have differently fabbed modules which have different results and voltages. 1GB Modules of Version 1.xxx does NOT play nice with any other version. These are Micron D9 ICs. So you need to look at the version to see if they are indeed 1.xxx Microns. If they are, it is doubtful that you will find stability with a marriage of these two modules and any other differing fab modules.
leniows
hi... i was outside my country, but now im back with the complete specs of my modules. 2 x 1gb 8500c5d 5-5-5-15 2t - Ver. 4.1; 2.1v 2 x 1gb 8500c5d 5-5-5-15 2t - Ver. 1.2; 2.2v ( the new ones ) I placed the 2 first in A1 and B1 slots and the other in A2 and B2. For now, my setup timmings are 5-5-5-15 2t and the voltages 2.1 My pc is working well... If i change the voltage to auto, my pc does not post with the 4 modules... and with the 4 modules i CANT change the sli ready memory... NOT DETECTED Just to confirm, now that we have the complete specs of my modules, what should I do to take the best of it? Thanks again for all your help... ;]

leniows
test results... (without memtest's test) Memory Voltage = 2.1 volts Timmings = 5-5-5-15 2T System ok! When I change the Memory Frequency to 800mhz, pc keeps rebooting... I could not find the MCH and the SPP voltages to change it =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--= any ideas?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 3, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 3, 2008 The NB Core Voltage at 1.45 Volts would be what to change on your MB and would suggest it be set to DDR667 with 4 modules.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 6, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 6, 2008 With 4 modules DDR667 or DDR800 would be suggested and set the NB SPP Voltage to about 1.45 Volts or +.2 Volts over default.
leniows
Hi... its me again... after a lot of tests and patient, i think one of my modules is bad. Since i did a few tests to get my 2 pair of modules work together ( with different voltages and versions ), i found whats wrong... =[ memtest displayed more than 2400 erros with 10 secs of tests =[ after test one module at time, i discovered that one stick is faulty. the same kit were replaced to me a few months ago =[ what can I do? a new rma? thanks
