WBFAir
Hello RAM guy I'm about to build a system with an Asus M2N32SLI Deluxe, 4 gigs of CM2X1024-6400C4D RAM (2 twin matched sets) and Windows XP Pro (32bit version) Can the 32 bit version of XP Pro use more than 3 gigs? I've read a bit that it can't, is this true? If so is there anything I can do to make it work? Also if this is true, should I not install all the sticks or would it be better to fill all the slots anyway? Thank you Bill
Wired
I'd either go w/ 2 GB on XP 32 bit, or 4 GB on 64 bit OS.
WBFAir
Yeah if I knew about this issue before, I may have done that. Unfortunately I've already bought the 4 gigs of RAM so I'm just hoping there is a way to use it.
Wired
What are you using the computer for? You may not need 4 GB.
WBFAir
Well several things Not in any particular order 1: "Trying" to run Microsoft's new flight simulator, full out. 2: Heavy multimedia editing and such as large AVI file capturing, processing and DVD authoring. 3: Running CAD & CAD like programs. 4: Running office type programs. Most of all I want to be able to run the above at the same time as other programs without choking the machine.
Tj
FSX is like a wee young'n... it has yet to grow into something that fits. (let's see what the upcoming patch does for playability. If I understand correctly, FSX doesn't have dual core support atm Running office apps with another programs, I could understand but CAD and the items listed in point 2 as well as other programs?? Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted May 8, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted May 8, 2007 With any 32-Bit O.S. you would get best performance with 2.0 Gig of memory and 2-1.0 Gig modules will provide the best performance.
