rwk2095
I am installing a CX550M replacement power supply, and the old device has a connector that the new one does not. I have attached copies of the plug and jack. Does anybody have a fix for this? Thanks!
DevBiker
That's a 4-pin CPU power connector (actually, 8-pin connector with 4 of the pins covered ... quite an odd design but whatever). The CX550M likely has an 8-pin connector that you should be able to separate into 2 4-pin connections.
rwk2095
I did some Googling, and it seems there are others in my situation (8-pin to 4-pin). Most adapter cables are for going 4-pin to 8-pin. I agree the 8-pin socket with 4 pins covered is odd, and it does look like the Corsair plug is capable of being split. Does it matter which half of the plug I use? Would it work to remove the socket cover and connect all 8 pins?
DevBiker
It doesn't matter which half you use. As for removing the socket cover ... I've no idea. Interestingly, the manual refers to JPWR2 as an "8-pin Power Connector" (page 2-11 in the English version).
rwk2095
Hey DevBiker, thanks for your help! I went with splitting the plug, which was easier than I expected. The systems seems to be running normally, and I am writing this on the computer with the new power supply.
