Kailido
Hi everyone. I have a question to ask. This might be a pretty newb question but i need to know before making a purchase. So I bought a CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 module a year ago and now i want to buy another module, and the best budgetwise module that i find is CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9B. The thing is when i read the specifications of each module on corsair website of the B one it says memory configuration dual channel , and on the other one (the one that i have) it says single module. if i get a B module will i be able to get dual channel with the one that i have? chrisdash
Corsair memory has a sticker with a version number on it. Can you find out the version numbers for both modules? They need to match to be sure -- the internal components (ICs) in the modules can change as new batches are produced.
Administrators Technobeard Posted October 6, 2014 Administrators Share Posted October 6, 2014 B = Blue Yours are black. Matching version numbers will ensure they're the same type of IC, but will not guarantee compatibility. No store can guarantee which version you'd get. emissary42
No store can guarantee which version you'd get. Thats is true, but only if you're buying online. If you have a local computer store, the version number is visible through the packaging. So that way you could chose a kit with a matching version, if there actually are some in stock.
