kyramas
Hello everyone ! Well here is my problem : I recently bought 2X512 Corsair TWINX XMS3200XL (XMS3208v1.1) When I tried to install it on my DFI Lanparty Ultra 400 B I got no boot and 1st and 2nd leds lit. (guide said memory/sizing) And also a beeping every second. Monitor blank. Old memory (2X256 Corsair xms 3000) works like a charm. New memory in plus a stick from the old kit. Works like a charm. So it only works with the old memory present. Cleared the cmos. (battery/cable/jumper and all) No luck. My bios is the latest ( 6/19) One thing I noticed is that when I boot with new memory and old memory together then in windows using cpu-z or sandra the new memories are only recognized as the ammount of mb and not the speed (3200) or the spd settings. Please help. :[pouts: Thanks ps. Feel free to ask if I left any detail out.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted November 5, 2004 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 5, 2004 Please make sure you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB and load optimized defaults settings, and try the following BIOS settings using the old memory module to set the correct BIOS settings for the XL modules; TwinX512 Or Twinx1024-3200XL Genie BIOS/DRAM Configuration DRAM Frequency Set: 1:1 or 333MHz or 166 (if option are 133/166/200) Command Per Clock: 1T SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T Genie BIOS Clock Spread Spectrum: Enabled CPU Clock: 166 CPU/DRAM ratio: 1:1 or 100% DRAM Voltage 2.75 volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI 9200 or 9600 then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings are motherboards defaults Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
kyramas
Well I followed your instructions and it didnt boot with either module. It did boot with one old memory stick and the new ones. So I captured a screenshot of CPU-Z and Rightmark Memory Analyzer. Its the SPD page. SPD missing You can see that both programs cant read the spd settings. They can read it from the old memory kit though. Thats why I think it only boots with the old ones on the board. Although in the bios as requested the setting was 1:1 and not SPD. Anyway what should I do ? Thanks. :[pouts:
