Top1105
I'm about to buy a Corsair Flash Voyager, but there are two 16GB USB3.0 models. CMFVY3-16GB and CMFVY3S-16GB What's the difference between the two models?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 13, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 13, 2011 Can you provide a link where you found that? However CMFVY3S-16GB is the right part number for the flash Voyager 3 on our web site.
DoodleMan
I wondered the exact same thing. Trying to find a stocked & fast USB drive (not to mention value) is a nightmare already, without the OEM confusing us even-more :( Can you provide a link where you found that? Trick question? It's the product page. http://www.corsair.com/usb-drive/flash-voyager-usb-drives.html http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/2691/8gbl.jpg ------------- ------------- ------------- http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/2116/16gb.jpg However CMFVY3S-16GB is the right part number for the flash Voyager 3 on our web site. Yet no-one in Australia seems to sell them. Only the non-S (slower) variant. Voyagers are an eye-sore, and we'r already unhappy with our 'Minis'. The rubber gets slack, glue loses it's stick, and the actual unit (finally, a reasonable size) slimes & slides around inside... Users grow-tired, and just throws the rubber bit away, left with nothing to anchor to (ie: hook-point, for a lanyard). But guess what, money talks. We need FAST drives. But, very little specs are given... Most/All brands of USB drives come with rubbery figures (plenty of shootouts around) at best... And even-if we trust all the figures here, the comparison tool is literally USELESS. http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/5796/comparisong.jpg Sorry for the rant, but I've never spent SO long trying to buy a simple device. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 17, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 17, 2011 It looks like a mistake on our part and I will have our web master look at it this next week.
imak
According to the following article the "S" refers to the second generation USB 3.0 Flash Voyager released this September. http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1714/ From my research, I have noticed that the majority of people who have purchased the CMFVY3 models report terminal defects with the product after mild usage. From what I can determine with the second generation it seems that Corsair may have remedied the underlying issue (but the number of available reviews is far less). What I wish to ask is whether Corsair has a 32GB variant available, the CMFVY3S-32GB.
