joinaunion
Can someone tell me if this is single sided memory and how do i tell single sided memory compared to dual sided? http://www.corsair.com/vengeance-16gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz16gx3m4a1600c9.html Thank You
Wired
AFAIK everything's dual sided nowadays. Why do you ask?
joinaunion
For this motherboard http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=H61iCafe Manual states(note #6): 1. If you want to install two memory modules, for optimal compatibility and reliability, it is recommended to install them in the blue slots (DDR3_A1 and DDR3_B1). 2. If a pair of memory modules is NOT installed in the same Dual Channel, for example, installing a pair of memory modules in DDR3_A1 and DDR3_A2, it is unable to activate the Dual Channel Memory Technology. 3. It is not allowed to install a DDR or DDR2 memory module into DDR3 slot; otherwise, this motherboard and DIMM may be damaged. 4. Some DDR3 1GB double-sided DIMMs with 16 chips may not work on this motherboard. It is not recommended to install them on this motherboard. 5. If you install four single-sided DIMMs on this motherboard, they will run at DDR3 1066 only. 6. Due to chipset limitation, if you plan to install three or four memory modules on this motherboard, please install only single-sided memory modules. 7. This motherboard supports two double-sided or four single-sided DIMMs. Therefore, if you install four DDR3 DIMMs, you can only adopt four single-sided DIMMs. Thank You
peanutz94
That kinda limits your choices for memory doesn't it? However you can get an 8 gig kit that will work out .
joinaunion
Can you give me link to 8 gig set that will work. Thanks
peanutz94
Yeah , sure. These should be just fine! http://www.corsair.com/memory/intel-memory-solutions/core-i3-dual-channel-kits/cmx8gx3m2a1333c9.html http://www.corsair.com/memory/intel-memory-solutions/core-i3-dual-channel-kits/cmx4gx3m2a1333c8.html http://www.corsair.com/memory/intel-memory-solutions/core-i3-dual-channel-kits/cmx8gx3m2a1333c9.html
joinaunion
Are those that you listed single sided? How do tell if they are?The specs don't mention single sided.
peanutz94
Like Wired stated, i'm pretty sure they are double. Single or double sided is just that. Whether or not it has chips on one side of the stick or chips on both sides.
joinaunion
I understand what the difference is between SS/DS.The links you provide don't indicate whether there SS/DS As it states above #7 says in order to use 4 dimms they must be SS,and I would like to use all 4 dimms. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 13, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 13, 2011 Then I am sorry you would need to ask them for a list of modules they have qualified that are single sided at the density you want. We do not offer single rank modules that way sorry! However many of the 2.0 Gig modules are single rank that are currently in production but there is no easy way to identify them as they are not sold as single rank parts.
