warboss choppa
I have a Lancool PC-K62 case and I am looking to get a new watercooler for it. I want to mount this within the case on the top. But I wanna make sure I get the right size radiator for it. I don't know if I should be going with a 280 mm or a 240 mm. Thank you!
nowcontrol
By looking at the specs for your case i see it only has fittings at the top for dual 140mm fans which would mean that you need a 280 rad, but also from looking at the pic below i'm not entirely sure that you will have enough clearance to the top of your motherboard to fit any rad up there. :dunno: http://www.lancoolpc.com/tw/product/upload/image/k62/k62-03.jpg EDIT: Also to add that i cannot find any other pics of your case where somebody has used an AIO rad at the top so this tells me that it is possibly not going to fit. :(: Tho i suspect with the use of a Dremel to cut away some metal at the either of the ends it would allow to fit a rad above the plate with the fans on the inside for an exhaust/push config. :nodding:
warboss choppa
Could you mspaint where you mean to dremel out the metal bits please. I didn't follow that, and thanks for the info, I guess I'll just have to modify my case a bit for that push/pull config which sounds like a good idea. nowcontrol
From the green outline here, you could cut a section from the front or the rear depending on where you would prefer to have the hoses drop down from, i would recommend the front. But you could also just cut the whole section i have outlined to remove those airflow restrictive bars and give you the choice of either end, i don't think cutting that much out would compromise the strength of the top plate to hold the rad at all. ;):
warboss choppa
I've decided to just get a new case altogether. Looking at a Carbide Series Air 540, could I get away with a push pull system in there with a H115i?
c-attack
It will be motherboard dependent. Some boards with large top heat sinks or additional power plugs at the top of the board may obstruct the second set of fans on a 280mm. However, you absolutely do not need push-pull on a H115i. My HW-E CPUs pulls 205-215W with heavy core and cache overclocks. Water temperature is not my limiting factor and I can dissipate that amount of heat at fan speeds of 1000 RPM or less. With a slightly less aggressive overclock or lower TDP, you can run moderate loads at very low 500-600 RPM speeds all day long without penalty. snapper69
I agree, I run a 6600K @ 4.4 cooled by an H110i GT using 2 fans and it almost never gets above 50 degrees, even when gaming at 4k. It's lovely and quiet too.
nowcontrol
I agree with the above also, my H110i GTX does just fine on my 6700k with two ML-140 standard fans running at 40-50% for daily use and i only crank them up to 60% for gaming and 80-100% for benching and stress tests. Here is a few shots taken just now of setup in my Air 540 to give you an idea of the space there is left with only two fans on the rad.... As you can see, the space is less than that of a standard 25mm fan and from my board the IO Shield & CPU power connector are most definitely an obstruction for a push/pull config. But as already said, it is totally unnecessary. ;):
snapper69
I wish that I had the patience to do such a neat job as that, mind you, with 9 hdd's 2 ssd's and several fans, there's a lot of cables to tidy.
warboss choppa
Cool thanks for the help guys, and seeing your build I see I could get the plat. dominator ram without worrying it was gonna block something.
