jcharly
Hello, I have a DDR4 2x16gb memory kit (CMK32GX4M2B3200C16) version 3.31 on Z390 Aorus Ultra motherboard. Can I add another similar kit but another version (not 3.31)? Will 64gb work well even if both kits are different version? Thank you. :)
emissary42
Has not been tested, so it is not guaranteed to work. The usual recommendation from tech support is to get a single kit of the required overall capacity.
Pocah
I have mixed versions of RAM before on a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra and never had any issue. But I think it is fair to say that no combination is ever 100% guaranteed to work so lets say 99% sure it will be OK and just in case you are the 1% make sure you buy from a company that will allow you to return it and get something else in its place. Corsair Employee Corsair CJ Posted October 9, 2020 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 9, 2020 You can certainly try. As others have mentioned, just be aware that it might not play nice for whatever reason and this is why we recommend running with complete kits that have been validated to run at their rated speed together rather than mixing kits (even with similar speeds/timings).
