There's no attempt at autodetection on the 3-pin port and there wouldn't be a good way to do it either.
No matter - iCUE will still walk you through configuring. Just select what you have on the channel. Clicking next will take you to a screen where you can finish the details (number of strips, number of fans, HydroX)
