marangoni
Try running the update in compatibility mode. Tried this, still doesn't work. Seems to me like releasing a 64-bit application is the only logical solution.
greeny2010
To Corsair Support - if you are reading all the feedback on the installer problem, just point to us is the installer able to runs under the 64 bits OS?
ars92
So, I've tried using the update software on 5 different computers and with the exception of one of them, I ended up with the same results= "The installation failed. Please try again later." The four systems that resulted with the failed message are all running Win7 64-bit. The one exception was an older laptop that is running the Windows 8 Developer Preview 32-bit, and it finished the install but said that there wasn't any SP2500 device that could be updated. So I'm still left without an updated device at the moment. It seems that this issue is indeed related to 64-bit OS's. i remember having that error too, turns out it was because i didn't turn on the speakers AFTER connecting the cable correctly to the pc and the speakers.make sure u see the USB connected message.Or it will say "there wasn't any SP2500 device that could be updated". I think you are misunderstanding the problem. This is not a problem of installing the update, its a problem of installing the update SOFTWARE onto the computer. It fails every time, at the same point, no matter what (see the attached image on my original post). I am able to get the USB connected message on the controller, but it still fails. Judging from my experience, and the fact that others with 64-bit OS are having the exact same issue, it would appear the .exe installer is incompatible with windows 64-bit and needs to be fixed. Plain and simple.

In his post he said he got the error "no update-able sp2500 detected" on Windows 8 developer 32bits and totally failed with 64 bits,so he could have tried what i said on that windows version.I am obviously NOT misunderstanding the issue. It doesnt work on 64 bits, yeah everyone knows that by now,but since he has one with 32 bit windows,it just SHOULD work with that one.=)
boondock87
I've joined to complain about the same problem. When I insert the usb, the device is picked up as a STM32 DFU and windows cant find any driver for it. When trying to install the driver from the download, it gets to the part stating "Installing SP2500 updater..." and then just comes up with an error message "The installation failed. Please try again later." I hope the software does something regarding the sound, as I'm not too happy coming from my Z5500 system.
hackztor
I can confirm that this does not work on Windows 7 x64. I loaded up a vm of windows xp and ran it in there and it ran fine. I had 1.05.06 so do not know if there was a 7. 1.05.08: Heres fixes Enhancements: Changed subwoofer mute control to autmatically unmute when volume knob is turned. Bugs fixed: Correct two japanese character fonts.

maulbongo
Where'd you get those instructions? Hi Wired, This instruction you can find, when you start the "SP2500UpdaterInstall.exe". In your users temp folder a folder is created with the name "SP2500UpdaterInstall". And within this folder you can find a "install.xml", where all is written, what this "SP2500UpdaterInstall.exe" does. Here the content: <?xml version="1.0"?> <lista_installer xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Application7za> <url>http://www2.corsair.com/software/SP2500/Driver/7za.txt</url> <size>197632</size> </Application7za> <Driver_Package_x86> <version>3.0.1</version> <size>220961</size> <create_date>05/12/2011</create_date> <url>http://www2.corsair.com/software/SP2500/Driver/sttube86.7z</url> </Driver_Package_x86> <Driver_Package_x64> <version>3.0.1</version> <size>285146</size> <create_date>05/12/2011</create_date> <url>http://www2.corsair.com/software/SP2500/Driver/sttube64.7z</url> </Driver_Package_x64> <Application_Installer> <version>1.000</version> <size>524288</size> <create_date>03/03/2011</create_date> <url>http://www2.corsair.com/software/SP2500/Updater/SP2500UpdaterInstall.txt</url> </Application_Installer> <Application_Updater> <version>1.013</version> <size>606208</size> <create_date>04/28/2011</create_date> <url>http://www2.corsair.com/software/SP2500/Updater/SP2500Updater_1_013.txt</url> </Application_Updater> <Application_Replace> <size>134144</size> <url>http://www2.corsair.com/software/SP2500/Updater/ReplaceApp.txt</url> </Application_Replace> </lista_installer>

DKizzy
Add me to the list, simply put this software was not designed to run on x64. I tried program compatibility as suggested by another user to no avail. I am going to connect to my netbook with xp next and see what happens. Cro Mag
Did you guys having the usb connector looking shaky? I'm having loose connection with the usb connector. It's not a tight fix. yes, i have seen this as well. After a closer look at the mini usb cable connection on the inside, there is a plastic piece where the contacts sit on. You will see the plastic seems to come in different thickness. I have 2 usb cables laying around, one has a thin plastic under the contacts and the other has a thicker maybe twice as thick that fits nice and snug like a usb should feel while the other feels very loose. As for the thread topic, I also can not update my firmware (currently 1.05.06A) for my sp-2500. I also have windows 7 x64 and it just fails on the install of the update software. greeny2010
There is a complete silence on the updating problem face by the many owners of the SP2500 and nothing on this matter from the support department. I don't like to RMA back the item as the freight charges can murder me (I'm from Asia) Corsair - where are you :confused::confused:
