Halgaard
Hi all I'm buying a new aming rig, and since I'm getting a Z68 motherboard I would like to get a SSD for caching. I'm considering an Corsair SSD Force Series™ 3, 60GB -but when I'm looking at the shops wbsite there seems to be 2 versions of this product with minor differencies in the naming 1 http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=635704 - CSSD-F60GB3-BK 2 http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=650607 - CSSD-F60GB3A-BK Sry for Danish language - but the it seems the product ID's are different on these 2 pages. Can you guys say if there is an updated version with an 'a' ? Also, will this be a decent drive for SSD caching? Should I worry about potential Sandforce controlle problems when using it for this purpose? Best wishes Mr. Halgaard :) NB: I'm planning on buying this weekend so I hope someone have a quick reply. Toasted
Can't really answer the question as i can't find the product page. This was for the FIRST GENERATION Force Series SSD. http://www.corsair.com/blog/force25nm/
FoLmEr
I could understand if you wanted a cheap SSD-like storage performance solution using a 20GB or maybe 32GB drive in conjunction with the caching technology. But you're buying a 60GB drive which can easily serve as your boot drive, with the added benefit of giving you complete control over what data is being stored on your SSD for fast access. I can't tell you how the 'SF bug' messes with your PC if you're using it as a caching drive - though it probably won't be pretty. Can't really answer your question of the 'A' versus 'non-A' models. I'd suspect Toasted is on the right track on that one.
Wired
IIRC A had the 1.3 firmware on it. Physically they're the same. Buy one, update the firmware, done.
