kksdec02
I brought a Corsair P128 (CMFSSD-128GBG2D) around a month ago from Newegg. The speeds are blazingly fast, as advertised. However, I am running into a really strange problem (strange, because its not supposed to happen to SSD's). After about two hours of gaming, the SSD heats up ( a lot, almost like the old internal hdd I replaced). Initially, I thought that was normal, but then a friend with the same exact configuration (a Dell XPS M1530) had no problems with his P256. I actually took the drive out once, just to see if it was something else getting heated up, but it turned out to be disk itself. I keep my laptop squeaky clean, so there is no dust accumulated inside. Did I simply receive a bad drive and should I RMA it back to Newegg/Corsair?? Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted November 12, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 12, 2009 There is no heat from an SSD there is no moving parts, can you test the drive connected to a desktop system and see if it does get warm?
kksdec02
There is no heat from an SSD there is no moving parts Exactly my point. I didn't test it with a desktop, but I took it out from my laptop's disk drive slot last night after gaming, and it was hot. Not as hot as a hdd, but I wouldnt call it warm either. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted November 12, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 12, 2009 Notebooks will run warm and the heat you felt may have been from the chipset on the Notebook it self especially if its not getting hot when connected to another system.
