art2843
I recently upgraded my laptop with two 512MB memory sticks (CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB DDR 266 -- Model VS512SDS266) and have noticed that the system detects only 960MB. Could this be a problem with one of the memory modules or a limitation with my laptop, which is limited to 1GB max?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted May 5, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted May 5, 2009 In many laptops the video adapter will borrow 64-256MB of RAM to use as video memory. In this case it looks like the system is dedicating 64MB of memory to video.
art2843
After my post I decided to reinstall the original memory and found that the actual system memory available is exactly the difference of 64MB used for video. I am quite pleased with my upgrade. Thanks so much for your quick response.
