iceman_t
maybe a daft question but I am putting in a new 650w psu into my tower. Do I face the fan to top of case or face the fan downwards? Regards Tony
JQP122
What case do you have? I have an Antec Three Hundred case and it requires the PSU to go on the bottom of the case instead of the top. This means that I have to install the PSU "upside down" so that the fan can extract air from inside the case (otherwise it would be facing the bottom wall of my case and would be useless). If you're case makes you put your PSU on top of the tower, install the PSU so that the fan can get air from below it. All PSU fans blow air out the back of the unit, never into the case (just mentioning because I was confused when I saw that newer PSU's have fans that appear on top of the unit instead of the back). Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 27, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 27, 2008 As long as the PSU does not sit flush on the bottom of the case then I would install the PSU right side up. The Antec 300 case has no gap underneath the mounting area for the PSU, so with that case you would want to mount the PSU with the fan facing up.
