csmakio
I recently built a new computer for a friend. Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.3GHZ ASUS P5NE-SLI Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400C4 (In Yellow Mobo slots) Windows XP Home After I dropped of his computer he told me it has began freezing on him randomly after startup. Usually his sessions last about ten minuets. Hes also told me it's randomly restarted on him several times and he got a "Windows Fatal Error" that told him to download and run Windows Mem Diagnostic. He tried to do this but it froze on him. I have NOT updated the BIOS yet, also there are several Windows updates he needs to install but cannot because of the system freezing on him. I plan on going to his house tomorrow to work on the problem. I've noticed most of the people responding to this thread own Vista. He is running XP, should I still configure the memory voltage and timing settings according to this thread? Is there anything else I should do. This would be only my fourth PC I've built and maintained and have never had a problem like this so I could use some help.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 26, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 26, 2007 Yes you need to set the tested settings for the modules manually and make sure the TRC is set to 24 and the Command Rate is set to 2T.
