BuPe
Hi, I bought the aforementioned motherboard and now I'm looking for a 4 GB kit for it. According to the manual this board does not support memory modules which use 128 mb chips so I need sticks which use 256 mb ones. I haven't found my board in the configurator and extensive Gogling and going through the Corsair homepage left this question unanswered: Do the 2 GB sticks in a Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX kit use 128x16 or 256x8? Also should anyone have the board I have: Please check if you are successfully using RAM stick with 128 mb chips. Thanks, BuPe
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 8, 2008 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 8, 2008 They are made with 128M X8 IC's and yes they will run great on that MB, and it will be added shortly if it's not already on there.
BuPe
Thanks for the quick reply - but now I'm a bit confused... Do you mean 128x16 or 256x8? I suppose the latter - the other wouldn't make much sense - or Asus wouldn't put that line in the manual...
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 8, 2008 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 8, 2008 They are made with 8 128 Meg IC's per rank. IE 128M X 8 = 1024 X 2 = 2048 Meg
BuPe
I see... then I don't understand why Asus put that line in the manual stating that modules using 128 mb chips are not supported... Anyway I'm buying this kit as you said it will work. Thanks for the help. Best regards, Peter
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 9, 2008 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 9, 2008 They stated that 128M X 16 IC's will not work! But no problem, please let me know if you have any more questions!
