gilbertpremo
Plugging the Flash Voyager 16G into a USB port results in the computer freezing, a hard freeze that does not even recognize Ctrl-Alt-Delete, and must be rebooted by the reset button. OS is W2K. Have not had this problem with other flash drives. Previous ones were not over 4G. When the computer is rebooted, then it will recognize the already plugged in flash drive. Is this working as designed, as a easy way to hard freeze the computer?

gilbertpremo
It would be easier to live with the hard freeze. RMA would involve loss of time and money, and there could be no assurance that another drive would not cause freeze, that may be part of the design. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 10, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 10, 2007 Well there is no way this is a design problem or I would have seen it before and I do not remember ever seeing it before. So that would suggest the drive is just failing. However, if it happens again with a new drive there may some other problem with your USB Port on that system. gilbertpremo
Now the freeze has stopped, for no apparent reason. In any event, the drive is consistently working now, without freezing the computer upon insertion.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 18, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 18, 2007 That might suggest a Voltage problem with your system. Can you test the drive on another system?
