exige88
Ram guy, I have an Alienware aurora 5500 that is now 2 years old. It has an ABIT AV8 1.5 SOCKET 939 K8 MB motherboard with an ATHLON 64 3500 E 512KB CACHE 939-PIN chipset. It came with 2 Dual-linked CORSAIR 512MB DDR PC3200XL XMSX , but i would like to upgrade it to 2g of total RAM form the 1g i have now. Can i use the CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit in addition to what i already have or would i be better off getting a new set of dual linked that was 2G such as CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 20, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 20, 2007 No I am sorry but you cannot mix memory with this MB and or platform. And XMS3200LL or /Xl is no longer available I would suggest replacing what you have now with one set of Twinx2048-3200C2 or VS2GBKit400C3.
