darkstrydar
I'm looking into purchasing a new Crosshair AM2 Mobo and i would like to have 4 GB's of RAM. i was wondering if 2 sets of the TWIN2X2048-6400C4D will run in this Mobo and if there are any special timings i need to set it to. Any help appreciated, thanks. Also going to run an AMD 64 X2 6000+.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted May 30, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted May 30, 2007 No I would suggest Twin2x4096-6500DHX if you want to run with 4 Gig for best performance.
darkstrydar
With that i notice the timings listed go from 4-4-4-12 on the first set to about 5-5-5-18 on the second set. I plan on using this rig for gaming and was wondering if that would be a huge difference in performance.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted May 30, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted May 30, 2007 I would not suggest mixing memory with any MB and with 4 modules you will likely need to run the memory frequency at DDR667 and I would run the timings at "BY SPD" at 2.1 Volts. darkstrydar
Guess my last post was confusing. What i meant was the set i asked about is said to have timings at 4-4-4-12 while the set you recommended is 5-5-5-18. i was wondering if that would cause a difference when i'm looking at gaming. Also i had looked at another set, the Twin2x2048-6400 C3DF with timings of 3-4-3-9. would this be even better?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted May 30, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted May 30, 2007 Cas 3 would be the fastest memory, but no matter what part you get with 4 modules you would need to slot the memory frequency down and the difference would be about 1-6% per speed grade.
