Asus Lin64-sli

Buying Asus LIN64-sli mobo FX-74 CPU.

This is the promo offered by NewEgg, above mobo, case, and CPU.

Whats the fastest memory for this rig?

Is the dominator series better, which set of modules for up to 4 gig, 2 gig?

Of course the mobo is rated for DDR2 800.

Thanks for your help.

Ramguy, your right they don't list it yet.

Can see it here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131146

It;s a promotion by NewwEgg for AMD-4x4 with NForce 680a chipset.

Perhaps I should go with XMS2 TWINX 2048-6400 C4 while waiting for VISTA and 2 GB modules. The mobo is rated for 8 GB but it's too new, who knows what will boot with what configuration. Cannot find much info from hardware sites yet?

Thanks

Buck

PS, Maybe it's L1(one)N64-SLI

Well come to find out we actually have one running in the corner of our Lab, and it will run with 4 modules but I am not sure it will let you see the full 4 Gig even in Windows Vista 64 Bit. But it will run at DDR2-800 with 4 modules installed is about all I can tell you at the moment!

Ramguy.

I read on HardOC's site that dual channel requires all memory slots be filled.

I bought 2 sets of XMS2 2GB (2x1GB) 6400C4. Have no parts yet!

WinXP will not see all of the RAM, if it boots I will be happy while waiting for VISTA. Glad I got the Enermax 1000 Watt PSU, think it's gonna need it with two NVidia 8800 GTX's.

I like MS Flight Sim. With all the fans the damn machine is likeley to take off.

The dual NV 590's give HT 2000 speed.

Should take K8L's when the arrive.

Will they post the results from the Lab?

Thanks

Buck

Ramguy.

The build went well, no problems. It did boot with only one stick and was able to memtest86 all 4 modules. They all passed.

The system runs stable, at least with no overclocking.

It see's ALL of the ram with WinXP. It will only see 2.7GB if I install all 4 GB's.

I suspect Vista will see it all? I intend to use the Ultimate Edition.

I'm using 2 sets XMS2 TwinX2048 6400C.

Asus does list yhe 680a based L1n64-SLI mobo.
