kmardis
My system has been locking up over the last couple weeks and yesterday I starting getting "RAM Read/Write" erros on post. I went through the typic troubleshooting/repair process: Update BIOS (same errors) Pull moduals and use spare set. (No errors or lock up) Put pair back in. (same errors) Move them to different bank. (same errors.) I think they went bad. I have not had any other problems with the system and it works fine with other memory moduals.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 6, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 6, 2006 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
kmardis
P4 3.4 Ghz The Motherboard is an ASUS P4S800D-X with 400FSB. All memory settings are set to auto (Factory defaults)
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 6, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 6, 2006 With a 400 FSB CPU you would need to manually configure the memory timings and frequency to DDR266 at Cas 2-3-3-6 at 2.75 Volts!
kmardis
I just notice that I made a mistake on the FSB. It is a 800Mhz FSB. What setting should I try?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 6, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 6, 2006 Please load setup/optimized defaults and then set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. kmardis
ok here is what I found.... With my system: -If use these monules with another set up memory, the system comes up but there are read/write errors. The system becomes unstable and locks up -If I use just these moduals then the system will not post (Even with the BIOS settings) I have a friend that has the same modules and they work fine in my system, but my modules give the same results in his system. I am returning them to you guys for RMA#
