chiptouz
Hello, Any help on this would be great. I would like to purchase this: CORSAIR XMS2 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X1024A-6400 for use with the ASUS P5NSLI mobo. I know that mobo states that it handles DDR2 667 but does not say 800. Consumers on newegg say that they are getting it to work with no problems, but I was wondering if corsair has tested this and determined that it will work. I would hate to buy some ddr2 667 nowing that ddr2 800 is the fastest out. Your thoughts? Thank you
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 18, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 18, 2006 Yes but you have to over clock that MB to run DDR-800 memory! Please see Performance Reports!
chiptouz
Thank you for your response. I did not see the P5NSLI in the list. I am pretty sure that the P5N32sli is different from the P5N32sli. Would it be easy to overclock the mobo?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 19, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 19, 2006 yes but it will only support DDR2-667 memory unless you overclock the CPU, and as you over clock you will need to slow the memory down so you may not be able to run those module at 800 Mhz on this MB.
