Rambler
I have a question in regard to the compatibility of Corsair DDR2 800Mhz RAM modules with the new Asus M2N32-SLI. Ive been doing some reading and have been trying to work out the codes following CM2X1024 to determine compatibility. From reading the Asus DDR2800 QVL list for the M2N32-SLI motherboard it notes the following 1Gb Corsair modules as being compatible. - CM2X1024-6400PRO, and - CM2X1024-6400C4. From the Cosair site I note that the 6400PRO features “24 activity LEDs and platinum heat spreaders”. I cant find any reference to the CM2X1024-6400C4 but there is a reference to the CM2X2048-6400C4, so I presume that the CM2X1024-6400C4 referenced by the Asus QVL is a reference to a Twinx set containing two 512Mb modules which may be discontinued by Corsair. Here in Australia, retailers only stock the CM2X1024-6400 which isnt referenced by the Asus QVL list so I’m in a bit of a dilemma. From the above, is it correct to say the following - CM2X1024-6400: the standard DDR2 800Mhz 1Gb RAM module, - CM2X1024-6400PRO: module with platinum heat spreaders and LED’s, and - CM2X1024-6400C4: the Twinx pair of 512Mb’s modules Is it also correct to state that the CM2X1024-6400 is the same as the Platinum/LED and Twinx modules and therefore its should technically work with the Asus M2N32-SLI motherboard. Ive also read that for RAM modules to work well with the motherboard they need to have EPP. Does the Corsair CM2X1024-6400 have EPP. Thanks in advance. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 15, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 15, 2006 XM2S-6400---Cas 5-5-5-15 XM2S-6400C4-Cas 4-4-4-12 XM2S-6400C3-Cas 3-4-3-12 And the modules that have PT or Pro would be the same modules just cosmetic difference's I would suggest you go with Twin2x2048-6400C3 if you can get them there for best performance with the MB you are getting. Corsair in the 3D Mark Hall Of Fame! Hi, Ive been reading up on the compatibility issues that this motherboard is having with certain RAM. From reading various forums it seems like the way to go is either the Corsair TWINX2048-6400C3 or TWINX2048-6400C4. Although I'd like to go with these modules theres a budget constraint as Im building a new system. Both the Asus and Corsair compatibility lists note the CM2X512A-6400 modules as being compatible. Im thinking of buying two of these which are about half the price of the lower latency TWINX sets listed above. A 1Gb of RAM at a higher latency is something I can live with for now. What are peoples views on using the CM2X512A modules?
